Day 1: Beijing

Welcome to China and the start of your holiday! Enjoy an arrival transfer to your hotel located in the Hutongs of Beijing. This afternoon we take a rickshaw ride through the Hutongs of Beijing to see how a traditional way of life is maintained in a fast modernizing city.

Summer Palace

Day 2: Beijing

This morning explore the heart of Beijing including the vast Tiananmen Square where Chairman Mao’s tomb and various monuments to the people are located, and at the city’s heart is the Forbidden City, a centre of power for five centuries and seat of the emperors. After exploring here, we head over to the Summer Palace to explore its fascinating nooks and crannies.

Day 3: Beijing

Spend this morning walking on the Great Wall of China with our expert local guide. We will then check you into the hotel at the Great Wall. Overnight - Commune by the Wall.

Day 4: Beijing - Datong

Today we will drive you through to Datong and check you into the hotel. Then we head out to visit the peculiar wood-structured Hanging Monastery, built on the cliff at the foot of Mt. Hengshan - it gives a breath-taking view of Chinese architecture. We also visit Yungang Grottoes, Huayan Temple, The Nine Dragon Wall and The Shanhua Temple.

Day 5: Datong - Pingyao

Spend the day at leisure exploring Datong. When ready we drive to your hotel in Pingyao.

Day 6: Pingyao - Xi'an

Spend the day with our expert guide exploring Pingyao. Today's site-seeing in Pingyao will be to Shuangling Temple and Zhengguo Temple. Later we are off to the station to catch the sleeper train to Xian.

Day 7: Xi'an

Arriving into the station, meet our guide for hotel transfer. Before visiting the Terracotta Warrior archaeological site, we visit a workshop where we see the process used to create the terracotta figurines. In battle formation, the Terracotta Warriors are one of China’s most awesome sights.

Day 8: Xi'an - Guilin

Today we visit the Big Wild Goose Pagoda and take a bicycle ride along Xi’an's 9 mile in length, medieval City Wall before heading down into the Muslim Markets and visiting the Great Mosque. This evening we fly to Guilin. Overnight Club Med.

Day 9: Guilin

This morning we will venture to Longsheng for a full days touring of the highlights of this area which will include, The Hot Springs and National Forest Park, Dragons Backbone rice terraces, Longsheng town and surrounding villages. You will trek in the Ping'an area, before returning late to Guilin. Overnight Club Med.

Day 10: Guilin

Today we will drive you to Yangshuo, to take the Bamboo raft cruise on the Li River. Gorgeous Karst peaks give you surprises at each bend of the limpid river under the blue sky. Bear witness to rural China as peasants reap rice paddies, school kids and fisherman float by on bamboo rafts. You will visit the local market and West Street once you arrive in Yangshuo. Later on we return to Guilin. Overnight Club Med.

Day 11: Guilin - Shanghai

This morning we set off sightseeing, taking in Reed Flute Cave and Elephant Trunk Hill. We will then transfer you to the airport for the flight to Shanghai City. Arriving here, we drive you to your hotel. Overnight - Langham Xintiandi Shanghai

Day 12: Shanghai

With your guide today, head out on a guided sightseeing tour of the Bund, also called the Zhongshan Road, a famous waterfront and regarded as the symbol of Shanghai for hundreds of years. Onward to see the Jade Buddha Temple, the famous Yu Gardens and a trip to the Bazaar. You will also enjoy a cruise on the Huangpu River. Overnight - Langham Xintiandi Shanghai

Day 13: Shanghai

Travelling west, we journey to Suzhou in Jiangsu Province. One of China’s most charming cities, it’s fame rests on it’s waterways, and canals that are dotted with traditional bridges, houses and gardens. A cruise on the Grand Canal exposes Suzhou’s beauty. Renown for its silk, we also visit a silk workshop before returning to Shanghai. Overnight - Langham Xintiandi Shanghai

Day 14: Shanghai

Free day for you to explore on your own. Overnight - Langham Xintiandi Shanghai

Day 15: Shanghai

Sadly your journey has come to an end, we will transfer you to the airport in time for your flight home.
