Great Wall

Day 1: Beijing

Huan ying ni lai Zhongguo! That's 'Welcome to China' in Mandarin. Our representative will be waiting for you in the arrivals hall, ready to transfer you to your hotel in Beijing for hotel check in and some rest before your afternoon excursion to the Temple of Heaven. Located in the heart of bustling Beijing, the Temple of Heaven is an oasis of peace and a striking example of architectural order and symmetry.

Forbidden City

Day 2: Beijing

This morning explore the heart of Beijing including the vast Tiananmen Square where Chairman Mao's tomb and various monuments to the people are located. Enjoy a guided tour of the vast Forbidden City, a city within a city that was once the seat of the emperors. Later take an exciting rickshaw ride through the Hutongs of Beijing, weaving through old back lanes and traditional courtyards for a snapshot of an ancient way of life. This evening enjoy dinner at the Liqun Restaurant (reservation only - meal to be paid for locally).

The Great Wall

Day 3: Beijing

Don some comfortable shoes as today you get the chance to walk a section of the famous Great Wall at Mutianyu. Zig zagging some 6000km, ducking and weaving through mountain peaks and lush terrain, the Great Wall is one of those 'must-do experiences'. There'll also be the chance to explore the underground Ming Tombs and the Sacred Way before returning back to Beijing.

Day 4: Beijing - Xi'an

After breakfast and hotel check out this morning we will transfer you to the railway station for the bullet train to Xi'an. Arriving at around 3:40pm this afternoon you will be met and transferred to your hotel for check in and a short rest before proceeding on a guided walk of the ancient city walls.

Day 5: Xi'an

Today discover the marvellous Terracotta Warriors archaeological site. Some 7000 warriors stand battle-ready and have done so for the past 2,200 years. Enjoy a guided tour of the complex before visiting Xi'an's Muslim Quarter and the Great Mosque. Later this evening sample wonderful local dumplings whilst enjoying a Tang Dynasty show.

Downtown Chengdu

Day 6: Xi'an - Chengdu

This morning we transfer you to the airport for your flight to Chengdu. Upon arrival transfer to your hotel for check in with the remainder of the day at leisure for you to independently explore Jinli Street.

Day 7: Chengdu

Today tour the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding, a short drive out of town. Visiting the Panda nursery is a must as here you can get relatively close to the centre’s infant population. Afterwards, visit the Wuhou Memorial Temple, the Tomb of Wang Jian and Jinli Lu street - part of the old city where open air theatre and Sichuan Opera are performed in the evening. You'll also visit Kuanzhai Alley, Wenshu Temple and Tea house.

Day 8: Chengdu

Driving to Leshan the morning is spent exploring the the UNESCO-listed Dafo (Great Buddha), which is carved into the red sandstone face of Lingyun Hill overlooking the treacherous confluence of the Min, Qingyi and Dadu rivers below. See the great statue from a variety of angles as a boat ride is included. Later we return to Chengdu stopping at the Qing Dynasty town of Huanglongxi on the way.

Day 9: Chengdu - Guilin

This morning we transfer you to the airport for your flight to Guilin. Upon arrival you will be transferred to your hotel for check in. Later this evening enjoy a Four Lakes cruise with colourful lights along the river banks and a number of pretty bridges. On the cruise you'll also get to witness a Cormorant Fishing show.

Day 10: Guilin - Yangshuo

This morning your Li River cruise departs from downtown Guilin for a full day's excursion. The 90km Li River cruise is the highlight of any trip to northeastern Guangxi province. Gorgeous karst peaks give you surprises at each bend of the limpid river under the blue sky. Bear witness to rural China as peasants reap rice paddies and school kids and fisherman float by on bamboo rafts. After passing many world-renowned sights such as Elephant Trunk Hill and Pagoda, arrive in to Yangshuo for hotel transfer. This evening enjoy a spectacular Sound & Light Show on the river.

Day 11: Yangshuo - Guilin

This morning is your own free time to explore Yangshou, laden with quirky shops, art studios, calligraphers, cafes and restaurants. After the morning of exploration we will transfer you back to Guilin. This afternoon pay a visit to The Reed Flute Cave. Within the cave there are enchanting stalagmites, stone pillars, stone curtains and stone flowers.

Day 12: Guilin - Qingdao

Transferring to the airport this morning you will fly north to Qingdao. Often labelled 'China's Switzerland' due to its Bavarian architecture and appearance, the coastal city of Qingdao is a breath of fresh air. On arrival transfer to your hotel with the remainder of the day free for you to explore independently.

Days 13-15: Qingdao

Time to relax - the next 3 days are free.

Day 16: Qingdao - Beijing

After a leisurely breakfast you will be transferred to the airport for you flight back to the capital. Arriving into Beijing you will be met and transferred to your hotel with the rest of the day free for some last minute souvenir shopping.

Day 17: Beijing

Today marks the end of your adventure with On the Go Tours. After breakfast and hotel check out we will transfer you to the airport in time for your onward departure flight.
