This morning, we tour the centre of Beijing including the massive Tiananmen Square and the sprawling Forbidden City. Boasting some 9999 rooms, the city within a city was once the sole preserve of the Chinese emperors. Afternoon enjoy a guided tour of the Temple of Heaven. Return to your hotel evening at leisure.
Drive (1.5 hrs) and hike on the Great Wall at Mutianyu, which is a quieter and more pleasant stretch of the wall to walk on.We head back into Beijing and have a cooking class on dumplings with a local family in the Hutongs. Tonight we will take you to the Kung Fu show - an amazing display of kung fu told within a colourful stage show.
Strong stomachs today, if you are game to try a few unusual delicacies in the local street market. Later we visit the Silk Alley markets and the Summer Palace, set on Kunming Lake. After we drive past the 2008 Olympic stadium commonly referred to as the ‘birdsnest’ and aquatic centre en route to catch the overnight sleeper train to Xian.
Arrive Xi’an and hotel check in. Later we tour the Terracotta Warrior archaeological site where some 7,000 warriors stand in battle ready position and a factory demonstrating how the warriors are crafted. Tonight enjoy Tang Dynasty era theatrical performance with dinner included.
Today enjoy visiting the Big Wild Goose Pagoda and a bicycle ride or walk along the top of the Xi’an City Wall. Following this we will visit the Muslim Quarter of the city. The remainder of the day is at leisure.
Morning flight returning to Chengdu. We then enjoy a visit to the Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding only a short drive out of town. Return to Chengdu evening at leisure.
Driving to Leshan we our morning is spent exploring the the UNESCO World Heritage Listed Dafo (Great Buddha), which is carved into the red sandstone face of Lingyun Hill. It is when standing at Dafo’s huge 8m feet that you can really appreciate the scale of one of the world’s largest Buddhas. Talking numbers, his ears droop 7m, his shoulders span 28m and his nose measures a whopping 5.6m. Impressive! Return to Chengdu.
Today we will take you to visit Wuhou Temple and Jinli Ancient Town, seeing the old way of life. Afterwards we will transfer you to the airport for the flight to Guilin. on Arrival we will check you into the hotel.
Today you will enjoy a whole day Li River cruise. This morning your Li River cruise departs from downtown Guilin for a full days excursion. The 90km Li River cruise is the centerpiece of any trip to northeastern Guangxi Province. Gorgeous Karst peaks give you surprises at each bend of the limpid river under the blue sky. Bear witness to rural China as peasants reap rice paddies, school kids and fisherman float by on bamboo rafts. You will visit the local market and West Street once you arrive in Yangshuo.
Yangshuo offers a world of opportunity for exploring the great outdoors. With breath-taking beauty, striking limestone mountain scenery and pure clean rivers, one can choose today with free time to go swimming or tubing down the Yu Long River, hike or hire a bicycle or motorbike and head off on one of the many mountain trails and explore small villages where the locals are very friendly.
This morning you pay a visit to The Reed Flute Cave Within the cave there are enchanting stalagmites, stone pillars, stele, stone curtains and stone flowers. We then fly to Shanghai and transfer you on to Suzhou and check you into the hotel.
Enjoy a tour of Suzhou today which is one of China’s most charming cities. The highlights will be a cruise on the Grand Canal, a visit to the Garden of the Master of the Nets and the seeing as the area is famous for it's Silk we will visit a silk workshop to see how it is made. We will then transfer you through to Shanghai and check you into the hotel.
