Today we take a high speed train journey to ancient Suzhou to enjoy the annual Dragon Boat Festival. A sort of oriental Venice, ancient Suzhou is interwoven by a series of canals and pretty waterways which feed a series of classical gardens, laid out here since the Song dynasty, a thousand years ago. We enjoy a cruise on the Grand Canal and tour the Humble Administrator’s Garden before catching the train back to Shanghai.
Today we travel back to Shanghai airport for the flight to Yichang. Arriving here, we will assist with your check in to the Yangtze Cruise Ship named Victoria Jenna in a Executive Suite.
Good morning from the River Yangtze! At 6340km in length, the Yangtze is the 3rd longest river in the world, neatly dividing China into north and south and wending its way through eight very different provinces. The Gorges are a breathtaking sight! Sit back and enjoy the next three days cruising the river with all the interesting excursions and stops that come with it.
Arriving into Chongqing after breakfast, you will be met by our local guide for the transfer to Chongqing airport and your onward flight to Xian. Here again our local team awaits to assist with transfer and to assist with check-in at the Shangri La hotel.
Today we tour the Terracotta Warrior archaeological site where some 7,000 warriors stand in battle ready position. The afternoon enjoy the Ancient Xian Enhance option.
Enjoy an early morning excursion to see Pandas at the Shaanxi Rare Wildlife Rescue and Breeding Centre. The rest of today is at leisure before we transfer you to the station for the overnight sleeper train to Beijing.
Upon arrival at Beijing station, you will be greeted by our local guide and transferred to the Opposite Hotel. Later today enjoy a guided walk on the Great Wall of China.
Today we explore the heart of Beijing including the vast Tiananmen Square where Chairman Mao’s tomb and various monuments to the people are located. Dominating the city’s heart is the Forbidden City, a centre of power for five centuries and seat of the emperors. Entering through the Gate of Heavenly Peace, we enjoy a guided walk of this old city within a city.
