Day 5: Hong Kong - Guilin
Make your own way to train station for your express train to Guangzhou. Arriving into Guangzhou our local guide will be there to meet you and transfer you for the sleeper train to Guilin.
Day 6: Guilin - Yangshuo
Welcome to Guilin. Arrival transfer to your hotel in Yangshuo. Yangshuo offers a world of opportunity for exploring the great outdoors. With breath-taking beauty, striking limestone mountain scenery and pure clean rivers. Today enjoy a three hour cruise down the Yulong river on a traditional Bamboo raft.
Day 8: Yangshuo - Guilin
This morning we drive to Longsheng. Here, we explore the rice terraces of the Dragon’s Backbone! Beginning at the base of Mt Longji the verdant green rice fields coil the steep mountain layer upon layer climbing to its summit to see it first hand is simply breath taking. We then transfer to Guilin.
Day 9: Guilin - Yangtze & Three Gorges
This morning you pay a visit to The Reed Flute Cave to see the enchanting stalagmites, stone pillars, stele, stone curtains and stone flowers. Then we continue on to Elephant Trunk Hill Located at the confluence of the Taohua (Peach Blossom) River and the Li River, this Hill is too famous to be missed. Later we fly to Chongqing to Board your Yangtse River cruise after dinner in town.
Days 10-11: Yangtze & Three Gorges
Good morning from the River Yangtze! At 6340km in length, the Yangtze is the 3rd longest river in the world, neatly dividing China into north and south, and wending its way through eight very different provinces. Enjoy spectacular vistas passing through all of the famous Gorges Qutangxia Gorge, Wuxia Gorge, Xiling Gorge on your way to Yichang.
Day 12: Yangtze & Three Gorges - Shanghai
Disembarking from our cruise after lunch we transfer to the airport for your short flight to Shanghai. Arrive Shanghai and transfer to your hotel.
Day 13: Shanghai
A short train journey East is Suzhou in Jiangsu Province. The charming city boasts extensive waterways and canals dotted with traditional bridges, houses and gardens. A cruise on the Grand Canal exposes Suzhou’s beauty, as does our exploration of the humble administrator’s house and garden. Return to Shanghai in the evening.
Day 14: Shanghai - Xi'an
Enjoy a free day to explore the city your own way. Perhaps visit the Oriental Pearl TV tower, the Jade Buddha Temple, French Quarter, The Bund or the Old City. Evening transfer to the station for the sleeper train to Xian.
Day 15: Xi'an
Welcome to Xian. Arrival transfer to your hotel. Afternoon enjoy a guided tour to see the Terracotta Warriors. Evening at leisure.
Day 16: Xi'an - Luoyang
Morning at leisure to explore the goose pagoda and city wall at leisure. Afternoon transfer for the express train to Luoyang. Arrive Luoyang and transfer to your hotel, evening at leisure.
Day 17: Luoyang
Today we explore the UNESCO - listed 6th Century Longman Caves etched into the cliffs of the Yi River. Later we tour the White Horse Temple, the first Buddhist temple in China. Evening at leisure.
Day 18: Luoyang - Taiyuan
Today we drive to the birthplace of Chinese Kungfu at Shaolin Temple, which is also considered as the cradle of the Chan Zen Sect of Buddhism in China. The temple is located at the Mountain Songshan. The Middle Sacred Mountain (4, 959 feet above sea level) is famous for the 72 temples on the 72 slopes. Evening transferred to the station and board the train to Taiyuan.
Day 19: Taiyuan
Arrival transfer to your hotel. Full day tour to Pingyao Ancient City, visit the City Wall, Former Site of the Bank of China-Rishengchang Exchange Shop, Ming Qing Street. Return to your hotel.
Day 20: Taiyuan - Datong
Today you travel by train half day to Datong. Arrival transfer to your hotel.
Day 21: Datong
Enjoy a full day tour Full day tour of the Yungang Grotto, Nine Dragon Wall, Huayan Temple and ShanhuaTemple.
Day 22: Datong - Beijing
After breakfast today we head out to visit the peculiar wood-structured Hanging Monastery, built on the cliff at the foot of Mt. Hengshan it gives a breath-taking view of Chinese architecture. After we return to Datong and embark the overnight train to Beijing.
Day 23: Beijing
Welcome to Beijing. Arrival transfer to your hotel. This afternoon enjoy a leisurely tour of the temple of heaven and surrounding park followed by an afternoon rickshaw ride through the Hutongs of Beijing to see traditional way of life in a fast modernising city.
Day 24: Beijing
This morning, we tour the centre of Beijing including the massive Tiananmen Square and the sprawling Forbidden City. Boasting some 9999 rooms, the city within a city was once the sole preserve of the Chinese emperors. Afternoon enjoy a visit to the Summer Palace which is set on Kunming Lake.
Day 25: Beijing
Today, we drive beyond Beijing to Badaling, to walk a section of the famous Great Wall. Built in the Ming Dynasty, a 6m wide pathway makes a formidable defence, following the highest contours of a steep range of hills. Return to Beijing when you are ready.
