We will pick you up in Qingdao and take you to the Airport for your flight to Beijing. Welcome to Beijing! We will be there to meet you and transfer you to your hotel, enjoy your afternoon to sit back and relax.
This morning, we set out to explore the heart of Beijing including the vast Tiananmen Square and see Chairman Mao’s tomb and monument. Dominating the city’s heart is the Forbidden City, a centre of power for five centuries and seat of the emperors. Entering through the Gate of Heavenly Peace, we enjoy a guided walk of this old city within a city. We then enjoy a visit to the Summer Palace with its UNESCO listed imperial gardens. Tonight enjoy a peking duck dinner banquet.
Don some comfortable shoes, after breakfast we drive out of the city to Badaling, where we can walk a section of the Great Wall. Some sections are fairly steep, but the walk on the vast wall that snakes for thousands of kilometres is one of those ‘must do’ experiences! Continuing a short distance from Badaling, we visit the tombs of the Ming emperors. We also make a visit to a cloisonne workshop, where we will see first hand the unique Chinese art of combining copper and enamel to make decorative pieces.
Strong stomachs today, if you are game to try a few unusual delecacies in the local street market. Later we visit the Silk Alley markets and the Summer Palace, set on Kunming Lake. A drive past the 2008 Olympic stadium commonly referred to as the ‘birdsnest’ and aquatic centre.
After breakfast today we head out to visit the peculiar wood-structured Hanging Monastery, built on the cliff at the foot of Mt. Hengshan it gives a breath-taking view of Chinese architecture. Because of the numerous pagodas in Datong it has been known as the 'City of Pagodas'. The most elaborate would have to be the Wooden Pagoda in Ying County. This pagoda is over 900 years old and is attractive for its exquisite design and delicate appearance, enjoy your visit here later tonight we board our overnight train to Tiayan.
Welcome to Tiayuan, when you arrive we will collect you from the station and transfer directly to Pingyao. Here we spend all day exploring Pingyao Old City which was included in the United Nations World Cultural Heritage in 1997. Built over one thousand years ago here In the Ancient Ming and Qing Street, you can experience the town's former glory while exploring the rows of residences and shops all constructed in the original architectural style. Tonight we board our overnight train to Xian.
Upon arrival in Xi’an, we will meet you and transfer you to your hotel. After breakfast we visit Big Wild Goose Pagoda and the Muslim Quarter. Encircling the old city is Xi’an’s medieval City Wall, where we enjoy a hired bike ride.
After breakfast today we visit Huaqing Hot Springs, a scenic spot in the shadow of Li Mountain. Before visiting the Terracotta Warrior archaeological site, we stop at a workshop where we see the process used to create the terracotta figurines. In battle formation, the Terracotta Warriors are one of China’s most awesome sights.
This morning we transfer to the airport for our flight to Chengdhu, the capital of "Heavenly State" (Tian Fu Zhi Guo), the habitat of giant pandas and city of cotton-rose hibiscus. Enjoy free time to explore the city today. Sampling the famous Sichuan cuisine is a must on a trip to Chengdu. Enjoying the food as well as the culture, shopping and having tea at a teahouse afford a deeper understanding of Chengdu.
After breakfast you will venture to the Panda Centre. Located just 10km (6miles) away from downtown Chengdu, the Chengdu Panda Breeding Research Centre has been created and imitates the pandas' natural habitat in order that they might have the best possible environment for rearing and breeding. It's a full day excursion where you will also get to see other endangered species and the famous giant Buddha sculpture, before returning to Chengdhu.
Today we drive out to Mt Emai, here you will enjoy spectacular views from this sacred mountain to the Buddhists. We will then visit the Baoguo Temple and the Wannian Temple here before returning to Chengdu for the night.
After breakfast today you board the train to Chongqing. Chongqing is a modern city, China's fourth municipality after Beijing, Shanghai, and Tianjin. Here we will enjoy a guided exploration of the Dazu Caves and a an afternoon city tour then after dinner we board the Yangtze cruise destined for Yichang.
Good morning from the River Yangtze! At 6340km in length, the Yangtze is the 3rd longest river in the world, neatly dividing China into north and south, and wending its way through eight very different provinces. For today and tommorrow enjoy spectacular vistas passing through all of the famous Gorges Qutangxia Gorge, Wuxia Gorge, Xiling Gorge on your way to Yichang.
Today marks the end of you cruise. Upon arrival into Yichang, we disembark and journey to our hotel. Today we enjoy a city tour of Yichang, it is an ancient city and its history can be traced back for 4,000 years. Now, after thousands of years' development, the city stands out with its various unique characteristics many of which you will visit today as well as the Yichang museum .
This morning we board the 08:28 am overnight train to Hangzhou. Nothing else to do but sit back and relax, train travel in China is fascinating you will witness all types of terrains and people going about there daily life.
Welcome to Hangzhou you arrive around 11:42 am. After checking into your hotel we head out to explore the Chinese medicine museum, Tea House in Longjing village, and the Linyin temple before driving on to Tunxi.
This morning you venture to the top of Yellow Mountain. Considered the most beautiful mountain in China, Yellow Mountain is a range of 72 peaks in the south of Anhui Province. Set amidst rural landscapes and with it’s slopes clad in pine, the ethereal scenery is nothing short of breathtaking. We head up by cable-car to journey to the scenic area, where you’ll stay for two nights in a hotel at the top. Highlights of todays touring will be Shixin Peak, Lion Peak, Refreshing Terrace, Flower growing out of writing brush and Monkey gazing at the sea.
Today after enjoying the spectacular sunrise over the peaks we will take for an excursion to visit the cloud dispelling pavillion, The Grand Canyon, Flying Rock and the Summit Peak,
All things that go up, must come down! Descending via cable car, you’ll return to ground level. From here, a visit to the old street of the Song Dynasty. Tonight we catch the 22:30 overnight train from Huangshan City to Shanghai.
Welcome to Shanghai! After breakfast we head out to explore the city. Once known for its decadent magnetism that attracted fortune seekers and adventurers, Shanghai looks like a European city in a Chinese setting. A stroll along the famous Shanghai Bund confirms this. Today, we visit the Oriental Pearl TV tower, explore the Jade Buddha Temple, charming Yuyuan Gardens, and the Old City where you can opt to shop on Nanjing Road and also enjoy a short cruise on Huangpu river at night to see the city lights.
Travelling west, we journey to Suzhou in Jiangsu Province. One of China’s most charming cities, it’s fame rests on it’s waterways, and canals that are dotted with traditional bridges, houses and gardens. A cruise on the Grand Canal exposes Suzhou’s beauty. Renown for it’s silk, we also visit a silk workshop before returning to Shanghai.
Today enjoy a free day to explore in your own time.
