Welcome to China and the start of your holiday! You will be met at Xingang port (Tianjin City) and transferred to our hotel, where you sit back and relax after your long flight.
Today we drive to Badaling, where we can walk on the Great Wall. Some sections are fairly steep, but a walk on the wall that snakes for thousands of kilometres is one of those ‘must do’ experiences! We visit the tombs of the Ming emperors and a cloisonne workshop, where we’ll see the unique Chinese art of combining copper and enamel to make decorative pieces.
Today, we embark on a guided tour of the nation’s capital. Tiananmen Square, a patriotic vision of grandeur and the Forbidden city, the walled city of the former Chinese emperors boasting stunning temples, courtyards and reception halls. We also pay a visit to the Summer Palace where we explore the lavishly decorated temples, halls and courts, reconstructed in 1902 at the whim of the extravagant Dowager Empress Cixi.
A free day for you to enjoy Beijing at your leisure.
We bid you farewell today and transfer you to the airport for your onward journey.
