Today you arrive in Lijiang where you will be transferred to your hotel on arrival. With a history spanning 1,300 years, Lijiang possesses rich architecture in what is coined its ‘Old Town’. An earthquake in 1996 caused considerable damage, but despite this, concerted efforts have been made to painstakingly rebuild it in the old style. The Old Town (Dayan) is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It possesses a network of ancient and narrow streets lined with small restaurants and eating houses in unique architectural styles, which are intersected by canals and a lively marketplace at Sifang, where one can buy locally produced handicrafts including embroidery, hand-beaten copper pots and wood carvings. The rest of the day is free to explore.
Today at about 8.00am our day beings. You will be met at your hotel and transferred to Tiger Leaping Gorge Town where you will be able to purchase lunch. After lunch continue on to Middle Tiger Leaping Gorge where you will check in to your hotel before enjoying an afternoon of trekking. Some 30km long and with peaks either side reaching an average of 4,000m, it is the world’s deepest canyon. The gorge is so narrow at various points that legend has it a tiger once escaped pursuit by leaping across it at its narrowest point.
Today we being trekking at approx 8.30 when we leave the hotel and trek for around 4 hours when we stop for lunch. After lunch you will continue to Shangri-La by car where you will check into your hotel for a free evening.
Today we drive to the Shika Snow Mountain and enjoy a full day of hiking.With its highest altitude being 4,449 meters above the sea level, this area covers 65 square kilometers. We also enjoy a a cable car ride where you enjoy a wonderful birds-eye view of Gyanthang (the Old Town of Shangri-la), the Ganden-Songzanlin Monastery and Napa Lake. We return to Shangri-la for the evening.
Today we travel to Daboa Temple. We enjoy a few hours to explore the area before enjoying lunch and transferring back to Lijiang.
Today is a free day to further explore Lijiang.
