We will pick you up in a central point in Shanghai. Travelling west, we journey to Suzhou in Jiangsu Province. One of China’s most charming cities, it’s fame rests on it’s waterways, and canals that are dotted with traditional bridges, houses and gardens. A cruise on the Grand Canal exposes Suzhou’s beauty.
Today we will transfer you to Hangzhou. Arrive Hangzhou and check into your hotel. Later we will take on a guided tour of the West Lake which is undoubtedly the most renowned feature of Hangzhou, noted for the scenic beauty that blends naturally with many famous historical and cultural sites. Highlights today will be Linyin Temple and a tranquil bicycle ride in this beautiful scenic area as well as a visit to the Tea Gardens.
Today enjoy a guided tour to the Chinese Medicine Museum, Tea House and the Longjing village. Then we drive from Huangzhou to Tunxi.
Sitting at the foot of Mt Huangshan, Tunxi is an ancient town. It’s famous ancient street is lined with hundreds of old but well preserved buildings in the Ming and Qing style. Today we will take for a walk along the famous Old Street of the city.
This morning you venture, by cable car, to the top of Yellow Mountain or Huangshan as it is known in China. Considered the most beautiful mountains in China, Yellow Mountain or Huangshan is one of a range of 72 peaks in the south of Anhui Province. Set amidst rural landscapes and with it’s slopes clad in pine, the ethereal scenery is nothing short of breathtaking. Highlights include Beginning-to-believe Peak, Lion Peak, Cooling Terrace, the Flower from Dreaming Pen and Monkey Gazing at the sea, the Grand Canyon and the summit peak, not to mention the amazing sunrise! You’ll stay for one night in a hotel at the top of the mountain.
Today again after enjoying sunrise at your leaisure you will descend the mountain by the Yunghu Cable Car. From there we will transfer to Huangzhou airport for the flight to Guilin and onward transfer to Yangshuo.
Day at leisure to explore the local markets and village. Streets in Yangshuo are well kept in the original style, presenting the simple and primitive atmosphere of the ancient town.
Private transfer back to Guilin. This morning you pay a visit to The Reed Flute Cave where there are enchanting stalagmites, stone pillars, stele, stone curtains and stone flowers. Then we continue on to Elephant Trunk Hill.
Today you will be transferred to the airport for your flight to Chengdu. On arrival you will be met and transferred to your hotel. Some time at leisure to explore Chengdu this afternoon.
After breakfast you will venture to the Panda Centre. Located just 10km (6miles) away from downtown Chengdu, the Chengdu Panda Breeding Research Centre has been created and imitates the pandas' natural habitat in order that they might have the best possible environment for rearing and breeding.
You will have a free day until we transfer you to the train station for the overnight train to Xi'an.
On arrival into Xi’an, we will meet you and transfer you to your hotel. We visit Huaqing Hot Springs, a scenic spot in the shadow of Li Mountain. Before visiting the Terracotta Warrior archaeological site, we visit a workshop where we see the process used to create the terracotta figurines. In battle formation, the Terracotta Warriors are one of China’s most awesome sights.
Today, we visit the Big Wild Goose Pagoda and the Muslim Quarter. Encircling the old city is Xi’an’s medieval City Wall, Enjoy the remainder of today in your own time to explore the beautiful city.
Morning at leisure to explore Xian. This afernoon we board the train to Luoyang. On arrival at the station you will be met and transferred to your hotel.
Later today we will take you on a guided tour to the Longmen Grottos and White horse Temple. More than 100,000 images and statues of Buddha and his disciples were carved into the cliff walls for over a kilometre along the banks of the River Yi, just south of the city, these represent the peak of Buddhist Cave Art. Tonight you will board the overnight train to Beijing.
This morning, we will meet you at the train station when you arrive. Later, we explore the heart of Beijing including the vast Tiananmen Square where Chairman Mao’s tomb and various monuments to the people are located. Dominating the city’s heart is the Forbidden City, a centre of power for five centuries and seat of the emperors.
Don some comfortable shoes. Today we drive out of the city to Badaling, where we can walk a section of the Great Wall. Some sections are fairly steep, but the walk on the vast wall that snakes for thousands of kilometres is one of those ‘must do’ experiences! Continuing a short distance from Badaling, we visit the tombs of the Ming emperors.
Today we have a full day guided tour to Summer Palace and Temple of Heaven.
Today we will take you on a trip that explores the local folk culture, taking in Yonghe Gong Temple, Confucius Temple, Imperial College and Fangjia Hutong. Yonghe Gong Temple (also known as Lama Temple) is the biggest lamasery in Beijing and was built in 1694 as the residence of Prince Yong. The Beijing Confucius Temple is the second largest Confucian Temple in China. It was built in 1302 and used to pay respects to Confucius. The Imperial College (Guozijian) was the highest institute of learning from the Yuan Dynasty to the Ming Dynasty and Qing Dynasty. We end with a trip through the Fangjia Hutong.
Free day in Beijing until we transfer you to the train station for the overnight train to Shanghai.
