Welcome to Urumqi, in Xianjiang, a massive province which shares borders with eight countries! A number airlines service Urumqi and our tour starts at this point. Arrival transfer from airport to hotel.
Capital of Xinjiang, a largely desert and grassland province fringed by some of the highest mountains in the world, Urumqi sits amidst beautiful scenery, with the snow-clad Tian Shan range to the city’s east. We enjoy an excursion to Tian Chi (Heaven Lake), located at an altitude of 2,000m among the Tian Shan Mountains. Later, fly west to Kashgar.
Kashgar’s importance grew from its location as an oasis at the point where the northern and southern routes of the ancient Silk Road converged. See the Id Kah Mosque, Aba Khoja Mausoleum, where the local cemetery filled with distinctive mud and brick tombs is still used by the local Uighur peoples and the colourful Old Town.
A visit is made to Kashgar’s local market with free time to explore. Later, a flight to Urumqi. Remainder of the day at leisure to explore Urumqi.
Morning flight to Beijing. Arrival transfer to your hotel followed by guided tour of the Massive Forbidden City and Tiananmen Square. Evening at leisure.
Today, travel beyond Beijing to Badaling, where you can walk (almost climb on some sections) on the Great Wall. Return to Beijing and visit the Summer Palace with its UNESCO-listed imperial gardens, located on Kunming Lake. Tonight catch an overnight sleeper train to Xi'an.
Arrive Xi’an at 8 am, we will meet you and transfer you to a hotel to freshen up. Todays highlights will be a visit to the Terracotta Warrior archaeological site, Muslim Quarter of the city and cycle along the city wall. Tonight you travel by sleeper train to Shanghai.
Upon arrival we transfer to your hotel. After, enjoy a tour of the Jade Buddha Temple, Yuyuan Garden, Old City area, Oriental Pearl TV tower and Shanghai Museum. Tonight a visit to the Bund and a cruise on the Huangpu River to see the city lights.
Morning guide will meet you to transfer you to the station where you catch the new Magnetic Levavtation train which journeys at high speed to the airport.
