Enjoy a day to wander around enjoy your own time to discover the city. I would recommend you visit the Temple of Heaven especially in the morning when the locals are all performing Tai Chi or ballroom dancing very fun to watch and also recommend you visit the Summer Palace. Later we will transfer you to the station for the sleeper train to Xian.
Arrive Xi’an, hotel check in and free morning. Later today we have included a visit the Terracotta Warrior archaeological site and a workshop where warrior figurines are made. This evening at leisure.
Today, we visit Big Wild Goose Pagoda and the Muslim Quarter. Encircling the old city is Xi’an’s medieval City Wall, where we enjoy a hired bike ride. We then take to the sky and fly to Kunming. Arriving here included transfer to your hotel.
Today is spent visit the stunning Western Hills or the Dragon Gate Grotto, Kunming Flower and the Bird market. Later afternoon some time to explore at leisure.
Excursion to Stone Forest. Celebrated as a natural wonder, it’s Yunnan’s most visited sight. As you stroll along the winding paths and lookout points, you’ll be in awe of the bizaare, tightly packed formations of almost ‘petrified’ stone that forms this unusual attraction 120 km from Kunming. Tonight catch the overnight (hard) sleeper train to Lijiang.
Arriving into UNESCO-listed Lijiang - a Naxi stronghold your guide will meet you and take you to your hotel. Enjoy a tour of the Ethnic Minority Museum as well as the Old area of the town.
Seeing the reflection of Jade Dragon Snow Mountain on the surface of a picturesque lake, is the highlight of the 3 - 4 hour hike toward Wenhai Eco lodge. Upon arrival explore the village and drink tea with a local family.
This morning you visit Yi Village before embarking on a 4 hour hike to visit the Lashishai community. Here, you’ll meet and stay overnight with a traditional Naxi indigenous family.
En route to Liming (approx 3 hour drive) visit the town of Shigu, located on the first bend of the Yangtze River. Here you undertake a 3 hour hike (or pony ride if you choose) to the 3000m summit of the Thousand Tortoise Mountain. After enjoying the spectacular panoramic views continue your walk (downhill) to Liming. Overnight - Liming Guesthouse
After breakfast head to the excitingly named Tiger leaping gorge on the Yangtze River. Some 16km long and up to 3000m deep, it is the world’s deepest canyon. The gorge is so narrow at various points that legend has it a tiger once escaped pursuit by leaping across. Visiting the gorge, you’ll have a chance to walk a section and take in the dramatic, yet stark scenery. After lunch return to Lijiang for your onward flight to Shanghai.
Today we tour many of the city’s top spots - Yu Gardens and Bazaar- Shanghai’s finest traditional garden, the Bund, Pudong and the Oriental Pearl TV Tower, the Jade Buddha Temple and take a cruise including a cruise along the Huangpu River to see the city lights.
Today sadly it is time to fly home, we will transfer you to the airport in time for your flight.
