Welcome to Kunming and the beginning of your holiday with us! We will be there to meet you at Kunming. You will be met by your guide and we will transfer you to the airport.
Today you visit the premier natural attraction of Kunming, Shilin, the Stone Forest, an exposed bed of limestone karst spires weathered and split into amazing clusters that take on the appearance of a petrified forest, return to Kunming.
We will transfer you to the train station for the train to Dali (4 hours train journey). We will meet you at Dali station and transfer you to the guesthouse in Dali old town. In the afternoon, we will take you on a guided visit to Erhai lake, to see how the local people use cormorants to fish in lake and other Bai villages in the area.
Today we will take you to Shaxi valley, a beautiful, tranquil setting with quiet cobbled streets, spectacular local architecture and impressive courtyard homes. You will have a guided tour of the old town.
Leaving Shaxi, we travel to Lijiang. The seat of the Naxi minority peoples, Lijiang lies north-west of Tibet in a fantastic mountain setting. The Naxi are a matriarchal society descended from a race of Tibetan nomads who settled the region before the 10th century. We visit Shibaoshan Temple on the way.
Free day to relax and wander through the Old Town, exploring the rambling streets that are simply traditional China!
In the morning have a guided visit to Shuhe old town and Baisha village, afterwards a drive of about 1 hour up to Wenhai village, to have lunch. In the afternoon we hike about 3 hours to Xuehua Yi village, at the foot of Jade Dragon Snow Mountain.
Today you discover Tiger Leaping Gorge (Hutiao Xia). Some 16km long and up to 3000m deep, it is the worlds deepest canyon. The gorge is so narrow at various points that legend has it a tiger once escaped pursuit by leaping across. visiting the gorge, you’ll have a chance to hike along a section of the stunning gorge and take in the dramatic, yet stark scenery. We will then drive you back to Lijiang.
Today we will take you to Lugu Lake, an alpine lake at an elevation of 2,685 metres (8,809 ft) and is the highest lake in the Yunnan Province. Ethnic minority groups live on the lake's shores and you will see first hand the traditional way of life.
You will spend the day with our guide, experiencing the local way of life and exploring the lake shore.
We will transfer you to the train station for the overnight train to Kunming.
