Day 1: Hong Kong

Day 3: Hong Kong - Yangshuo

Morning we transfer you to the airport for your flight to Guilin -- Arrival transfer through some stunning scenery to Yangshuo--- Arriving and check into your hotel. This afternoon enjoy cruising on Yulong river in a traditional bamboo raft taking in the beautiful mountain scenery and watch the fisherman fish using there cormorant birds.

Day 4: Yangshuo - Guilin

Today we visit Longsheng, to walk the rice terraces of the Dragon’s Backbone. Beginning at the base of Mt Longji the verdant green rice fields coil up the steep mountain, layer upon layer, climbing to its summit. Taking a walk along the stone paths no more than a metre wide, we’ll pass many of the Yao and Red Yao minority women, baskets on their backs, who are also climbing skyward. Reaching the ‘Seven Stars accompanying Moon’ lookout, soak up the spectacular views. The full panorama offers thousands of ribbon like terraces cascading to the meandering streams and valley floor beneath. Return to Guilin and check into hotel.

Day 5: Guilin - Xi'an

This morning you pay a visit to The Reed Flute Cave Within the cave there are enchanting stalagmites, stone pillars, stele, stone curtains and stone flowers. Then we continue on to Elephant Trunk Hill Located at the confluence of the Taohua (Peach Blossom) River. The off to the airport for your flight to Xian. Arrival transfer to your hotel.

Day 6: Xi'an - Beijing

After breakfast we tour the Terracotta Warrior archaeological site where some 7,000 warriors stand in battle ready position. Afternoon , we visit Xi’an’s city symbol, the Big Wild Goose Pagoda, first built in AD652 to hold sutras collected in India by a wandering monk. An awesome sight, the City Wall is over 15 km in perimeter and we embark on a bike ride (solo or tandem). A legacy of the Silk Road, we visit the Muslim Quarter and later you travel on the overnight train to Beijing.

Day 7: Beijing

Today, we drive beyond Beijing to Badaling, to walk a section of the famous Great Wall. Built in the Ming Dynasty, a 6m wide pathway makes a formidable defence, following the highest contours of a steep range of hills. Return in the later afternoon time to relax.

Forbidden City

Day 8: Beijing

This morning, we tour the centre of Beijing including the massive Tiananmen Square and the sprawling Forbidden City. Boasting some 9999 rooms, the city within a city was once the sole preserve of the Chinese emperors. Afternoon rickshaw ride through the Hutongs of Beijing and welcome dinner this evening.

Day 9: Beijing

This morning enjoy an excursion to the Beijing Zoo. Later after lunch we visit the Emperor's Summer Palace, set on Kunming Lake and the gartantuous Silk Alley Markets. Later afternoon head out with your guide on foot for an interesting walk through busy streets to see the Temple of Heaven and its transcendental gardens. Tonight a banquet dinner with entertainment has been arranged!

Day 10: Beijing - Shanghai

This morning we are off the to the station to catch the high speed rail link to Shanghai. On arrival your guide and transfer will take your to your hotel.

Day 11: Shanghai

After breakfast at our hotel, we take a tour of the many city sights including Yuyuan Garden, Jade Buddha Temple and The Bund, with a cruise on the Huangpu River.

Day 12: Shanghai

Today we take a high speed train journey to ancient Suzhou. A sort of oriental Venice, ancient Suzhou is interwoven by a series of canals and pretty waterways which feed a series of classical gardens, laid out here since the Song dynasty, a thousand years ago. They are justly famous across China. Suzhou sits very close to the Grand Canal. We enjoy a cruise on the Grand Canal, tour the Humble Administrator’s Garden and visit a silk workshop. Return to Shanghai.

Day 13: Shanghai

We will transfer you to the airport in time for your flight home.
