Day 1: Beijing

Welcome to China and the start of your holiday! Enjoy an arrival transfer to our hotel, where you sit back and relax after your long flight.

Forbidden City

Day 2: Beijing

Today we drive out of the city to Mutianyu, where we can walk a section of the Great Wall. Some sections are fairly steep, but the walk on the vast wall is one of those ‘must do’ experiences! Later, we visit the tombs of the Ming emperors and a cloisonne workshop, where we’ll see firsthand the unique Chinese art of combining copper and enamel.

Day 3: Beijing

In the morning we explore the heart of Beijing including the vast Tiananmen Square where Chairman Mao’s tomb is located. Dominating the city’s heart is the Forbidden City, a centre of power for five centuries and seat of the emperors. Entering through the Gate of Heavenly Peace, we enjoy a guided walk of this old city within a city. After, we visit Jinshang Park to climb up Coal Hill and from here take in the views of the Imperial Centre! Later, this afternoon we enjoy a rickshaw ride through the Hutongs of Beijing to see how a traditional way of life is maintained in a fast modernising megacity.

Summer Palace

Day 4: Beijing - Xi'an

Enjoy a relaxing morning. Late we have a guided visit to the Silk Alley markets and the Summer Palace with its UNESCO-listed imperial gardens, located on Kunming Lake. We then head off to the station and assist you embarking the overnight train to Xi’an.

Day 5: Xi'an

Arriving into Xian our local guide awaits to meet you. After, we head out to visit the archaeological site of the Terracotta Warriors. Later, we visit the Big Wild Goose Pagoda and take a bicycle ride along Xi’an medieval City Wall.

Day 6: Xi'an - Chengdu

On the way to the airport for your flight to Chengdu we will stop at the Hanyangling Mausoleum, the burial place of the Emperor Jing of Han who ruled from 188 BC to 141 BC. We then head to the airport and fly to Chengdu, where our local team await to take you to your hotel. Enjoy free time for the later afternoon. We recommend visiting the Wenshu temple which is also a good place to get a nice cup of Chinese tea!

Day 7: Chengdu - Guilin

After breakfast you will venture to the Panda Centre. Located just 10km (6 miles) away from downtown Chengdu, the Chengdu Panda Breeding Research Centre has been created and imitates the pandas' natural habitat in order that they might have the best possible environment for rearing and breeding. It's a half day excursion where you will also get to see other endangered species and spend time with the cuddly bears. Then off to the airport for your flight to Guilin, where on arrival a transfer awaits to take you to the hotel.

Day 8: Guilin - Yangshuo

Today you will enjoy a whole day Li River cruise. This morning your Li River cruise departs from downtown Guilin for a full days excursion. The 90km Li River cruise is the centerpiece of any trip to northeastern Guangxi Province. Gorgeous Karst peaks give you surprises at each bend of the limpid river under the blue sky. Bear witness to rural China as peasants reap rice paddies, school kids and fisherman float by on bamboo rafts. You will visit the local market and West Street once you arrive in Yangshuo before transferring to your hotel.

Day 9: Yangshuo

Today is free for you to explore more of Yangshuo. We recommend you rent a bike and go on your own cycling tour and explore the local markets and villages in surrounding countryside, don't be shy the locals are super friendly!

Day 10: Yangshuo - Shanghai

We will transfer you back to Guilin this morning to explore The Reed Flute Cave where there are enchanting stalagmites, stone pillars, stele, stone curtains and stone flowers. After we set off to the airport for the flight to Shanghai. On arrival we will check you into the hotel.

Day 11: Shanghai

Once known for its decadent magnetism that attracted fortune-seekers and adventurers, Shanghai looks like a European city in a Chinese setting. Enjoy a big day out in Shanghai, with a visit to the Oriental Pearl TV tower, Jade Buddha Temple, charming Yuyuan Gardens and the Old City.

Day 12: Shanghai

Today we will transfer you to the station to catch the incredibly high speed Maglev Train to Pudong Airport in time for your flight home. (MAGLEV TRAIN TICKETS ARE INCLUDED)
