Great Wall

Day 1: Beijing

Welcome to China and the start of your holiday! we will be there to meet you and transfer you to your hotel, enjoy your afternoon to sit back and relax after your long flight.

Day 2: Beijing

Today we drive out of the city to Badaling, where we can walk a section of the Great Wall. The walk on the vast wall that snakes for thousands of kilometres is one of those ‘must do’ experiences! Continuing a short distance from Badaling, we visit the tombs of the Ming emperors. We also make a visit to a cloisonne workshop, where we’ll see the unique Chinese art of combining copper and enamel to make decorative pieces.

Day 3: Beijing - Xi'an

This morning, we set out to explore the heart of Beijing including the vast Tiananmen Square and see Chairman Mao’s tomb and monument. Dominating the city’s heart is the Forbidden City, a centre of power for five centuries and seat of the emperors. Entering through the Gate of Heavenly Peace, we enjoy a guided walk of this old city within a city. We then enjoy a visit to the Summer Palace with its UNESCO listed imperial gardens. Tonight we board the overnight train to Xian.

Day 4: Xi'an

Upon arrival in Xi’an, we will meet you and transfer you to your hotel. After breakfast we visit Huaqing Hot Springs, a scenic spot in the shadow of Li Mountain. Before visiting the Terracotta Warrior archaeological site, we visit a workshop where we see the process used to create the terracotta figurines. In battle formation, the Terracotta Warriors are one of China’s most awesome sights.

Day 5: Xi'an - Yangtze & Three Gorges

Today, we visit Big Wild Goose Pagoda and the Muslim Quarter. Encircling the old city is Xi’an’s medieval City Wall, where we enjoy a hired bike ride. Enjoy some free time to explore, later you will board your flight to Chonqing arriving there our guide will assist with your transfer and check-in to your Yangtze cruise.

Days 6-7: Yangtze & Three Gorges

Good morning from the River Yangtze! At 6340km in length, the Yangtze is the 3rd longest river in the world, neatly dividing China into north and south, and wending its way through eight very different provinces. For today and tommorrow enjoy spectacular vistas passing through all of the famous Gorges Qutangxia Gorge, Wuxia Gorge, Xiling Gorge on your way to Yichang.

Day 8: Yangtze & Three Gorges - Yichang

Today marks the end of you cruise. Upon arrival into Yichang, we disembark and journey to our hotel. Today we enjoy a city tour of Yichang, it is an ancient city and its history can be traced back for 4,000 years. Now, after thousands of years' development, the city stands out with its various unique characteristics many of which you will visit today as well as the Yichang museum .

Day 9: Yichang - Kunming

Enjoy a relaxing breakfast, later we transfer to the airport for our noon flight to Kuunming. Enjoy today free at your leisure to explore.

Day 10: Kunming

Enjoy a free day to attend your wedding.

Day 11: Kunming - Dali

Today you visit the premier natural attraction of Kunming, Shilin, the Stone Forest, an exposed bed of limestone karst spires weathered and split into amazing clusters that take on the appearance of a petrified forest, on the way back to Kunming you will stop and visit Qi Cai Yunnan. Tonight you will travel by over night train to Dali departing at 22:36.

Day 12: Dali

Welcome to Dali upon arrival we collect you from the station and transfer you to your hotel after check-in, your day begins with a visit to the famous Three Pagodas. Built when the region was a major Buddhist centre, Dali’s distinctively tall pagodas remain upright, despite wars and earthquakes. The largest of them - Qianxun tower dates back to 824 AD, some hundred years older than the two smaller octagonal pagodas behind, is 64m high, and is embellished with Buddhas made from local richly veined marble on each of its 16 levels. Back in Dali,enjoy some free time exploring the old section of the town.

Day 13: Dali - Lijiang

leaving Dali, you’ll travel north by car to Lijiang. The seat of the Naxi minority peoples, Lijiang lies at 2,500 m in a fantasic mountain setting bordered to the north-west by Tibet. The Naxi are a matriarchal society descended from a race of Tibetan nomads who settled the region before the 10th century who bought with them what are considered the sturdiest horses in all of China and a shamanistic religion known as Dongba. Today can enjoy free time in the Dayan Old Town before dinner and a traditional performance of Naxi music.

Day 14: Lijiang

Today you dicover Tiger Leaping Gorge (Hutiao Xia). Some 16km long and up to 3000m deep, it is the worlds deepest canyon. The gorge is so narrow at various points that legend has it a tiger once escaped pursuit by leaping across. visiting the gorge, you’ll have a chance to hike along a section of this stunning natural wonder and take in the dramatic, yet stark scenery.

Day 15: Lijiang - Kunming

Today enjoy an excursion to the stunning Jade Dragon Snow Mountain; its landscape includes one of the southernmost glaciers in the modern world. Shanzidou, the main peak of the mountain at 18,000 feet above sea level, looks like a gigantic dragon clad in white snow all year round. Access to the mountain is provided by a cable lift to Dragon Spruce Meadow, halfway to the glacier peak. Returning to Dali later this evening to board the overnight train back to Kumning departing at 21:30.

Day 16: Kunming

You arrive at 06:20 am, we will transfer you to the airport for your flight to Honk-Kong where you can connect with your later flight home.
