Great Wall

Day 1: Beijing

Welcome to China and the start of your holiday! Enjoy an arrival transfer to our hotel, where you sit back and relax after your long flight.

Day 2: Beijing

Don some comfortable shoes. Today we drive out of the city to Badaling, where we can walk a section of the Great Wall. Some sections are fairly steep, but the walk on the vast wall that snakes for thousands of kilometres is one of those ‘must do’ experiences! Afterwards we will visit the beautiful Summer Palace.

Day 3: Beijing - Datong

This morning, we explore the heart of Beijing including the vast Tiananmen Square where Chairman Mao’s tomb and various monuments to the people are located. Dominating the city’s heart is the Forbidden City, a centre of power for five centuries and seat of the emperors. We will also visit the Temple of Heaven. Tonight you will catch the overnight train to Datong.

Day 4: Datong

Welcome to Datong, we will meet you at the train station. After hotel check-in and breakfast we head out to explore the Yungang Grottoes, Huayan Temple, The Nine Dragon Wall and The Shanhua Temple. This evening is free time to relax.

Day 5: Datong - Xi'an

After breakfast today we head out to visit the peculiar wood-structured Hanging Monastery, built on the cliff at the foot of Mt. Hengshan it gives a breath-taking view of Chinese architecture. Because of the numerous pagodas in Datong it has been known as the 'City of Pagodas'. The most elaborate would have to be the Wooden Pagoda in Ying County. This pagoda is over 900 years old. Later tonight we board our overnight train to Xi’an.

Day 6: Xi'an

On arrival into Xian we will meet you at the train station and transfer you to the hotel. Later, we visit the Big Wild Goose Pagoda and the Muslim Quarter. Encircling the old city is Xi’an’s medieval City Wall. Enjoy the remainder of today in your own time to explore the beautiful city.

Day 7: Xi'an

Arriving into Xi’an and we will be there to meet you and transfer you to your hotel. We visit Huaqing Hot Springs, a scenic spot in the shadow of Li Mountain. Before visiting the Terracotta Warrior archaeological site, we visit a workshop where we see the process used to create the terracotta figurines. In battle formation, the Terracotta Warriors are one of China’s most awesome sights.

Day 8: Xi'an - Chengdu

This morning you will fly to Chengdu. On arrival you will be met and transferred to your hotel. You have the remainder of the day at leisure.

Day 9: Chengdu

Today we venture to the Panda Centre. Located just 10km (6miles) away from downtown Chengdu, the Chengdu Panda Breeding Research Centre has been created and imitates the panda's natural habitat. It's a full day excursion where you will also get to see other endangered species and the famous giant Buddha sculpture.

Day 10: Chengdu

Today we drive out to Mt Emai, here you will enjoy spectacular views from this sacred mountain to the Buddhists. We will visit the Baoguo Temple and the Wannian Temple here before returning to Chengdu for the night.

Day 11: Chengdu - Yangtze & Three Gorges

This morning you will catch a train to Chongqing. You will board your Yangtze River cruise after dinner.

Day 12: Yangtze & Three Gorges

Good morning from the River Yangtze! At 6340km in length, the Yangtze is the 3rd longest river in the world, neatly dividing China into north and south, and winding its way through eight very different provinces. Enjoy spectacular vistas passing through all of the famous Gorges Qutangxia Gorge, Wuxia Gorge, Xiling Gorge on your way to Yichang.

Day 13: Yangtze & Three Gorges

Day 14: Yangtze & Three Gorges - Yichang

Today your cruiser will arrive into Yichang about 1pm and we will disembark. This afternoon we will enjoy a city tour, including a visit to the Yichang Museum.

Day 15: Yichang - Hangzhou

This morning we board the 08:28 am overnight train to Hangzhou. Nothing else to do but sit back and relax, train travel in China is fascinating you will witness all types of terrains and people going about there daily life.

Day 16: Hangzhou - Tunxi

Your train is due in today just before lunch. On arrival we will visit the Chinese Medicine Museum, Tea House and the Longjing village. Afterwards you will be privately transferred to Tunxi.

Day 17: Tunxi - Huangshan (Yellow Mountain)

This morning we transfer to the Yellow Mountain Scenic Area. Our excursion does includes a return cable-car journey to the scenic area. Today after the cable car to the top we check-in and head to visit some of the areas highlights which include Shixin Peak, Lion Peak, Refreshing Terrace, Flower growing out of writing bush and Monkey gazing at the sea.

Day 18: Huangshan (Yellow Mountain)

Today after enjoying the spectacular sunrise over the peaks we will take an excursion to visit the cloud dispelling pavillion, The Grand Canyon, Flying Rock and the Summit Peak.

Day 19: Huangshan (Yellow Mountain) - Shanghai

All things that go up, must come down! Descending via cable car, you’ll return to ground level. From here, a visit to the old street of the Song Dynasty. We later board the overnight train to Shanghai.

Day 20: Shanghai

This morning upon arrival into Shanghai we will be there to meet you at the station and transfer you to your hotel. Once known for its decadent magnetism that attracted fortune-seekers and adventurers, Shanghai looks like a European city in a Chinese setting. A stroll along the famous Shanghai Bund confirms this. Today, we visit the Oriental Pearl TV tower, explore the Jade Buddha Temple, charming Yuyuan Gardens, and the Old City where we can opt to shop on Nanjing Road.

Day 21: Shanghai

Travelling west, we journey to Suzhou in Jiangsu Province. One of China’s most charming cities, it’s fame rests on it’s waterways, and canals that are dotted with traditional bridges, houses and gardens. A cruise on the Grand Canal exposes Suzhou’s beauty. Reknown for it’s silk, we also visit a silk workshop before returning to Shanghai.

Day 22: Shanghai - Kunming

This morning you will board your flight to Kunming. On arrival we will take you to visit the Western Hills in the surrounds of the city, a highlight of which is the Dragon Gate.

Day 23: Kunming - Dali

Today you visit the premier natural attraction of Kunming, Shilin, the Stone Forest, an exposed bed of limestone karst spires weathered and split into amazing clusters that take on the appearance of a petrified forest, on the way back to Kunming you will stop and visit Qi Cai Yunnan. Tonight you will travel by overnight train to Dali.

Day 24: Dali

This morning you will be met at the train station on arrival and be transferred to the hotel. Today sightseeing in Dali and the surrounds includes a cruise on Lake Erhai, some orientation stops at some ancient temples and villages and the Butterfly Spring. Then off to the famous Three Pagodas, built when the region was a major Buddhist centre. You'll also have some time to explore the Old Town.

Day 25: Dali - Lijiang

Leaving Dali, we travel by coach to Lijiang. The seat of the Naxi minority peoples, Lijiang lies north-west of Tibet in a fantastic mountain setting. The Naxi are a matriarchal society descended from a race of Tibetan nomads who settled the region before the 10th century. On arrival you will have free time to explore. Tonight we will watch a traditional performance of Naxi music.

Day 26: Lijiang

Today you discover Tiger Leaping Gorge (Hutiao Xia). Some 16km long and up to 3000m deep, it is the worlds deepest canyon. The gorge is so narrow at various points that legend has it a tiger once escaped pursuit by leaping across. visiting the gorge, you’ll have a chance to hike along a section of the stunning gorge and take in the dramatic, yet stark scenery.

Day 27: Lijiang - Kunming

Today enjoy an excursion to the stunning Jade Dragon Snow Mountain; its landscape includes one of the southernmost glaciers in the modern world. Access to the mountain is provided by a cable lift to Dragon Spruce Meadow, halfway to the glacier peak. Returning to Dali by private transfer before your overnight train to Kunming.

Day 28: Kunming

This morning on arrival into Kunming, you will be met at the Railway Station and transferred to your hotel. You will visit the flower and bird market and have a free afternoon.

Day 29: Kunming - Guilin

You have a morning flight to Guilin. On arrival we will visit the Reed Flute Cave. Within the cave there are enchanting stalagmites, stone pillars, stele, stone curtains and stone flowers. Then we continue on to Elephant Trunk Hill Located at the confluence of the Taohua (Peach Blossom) River and the Li River, this Hill is too famous to be missed.

Day 30: Guilin - Yangshuo

This morning your Li River cruise departs from downtown Guilin for a full days excursion. Gorgeous Karst peaks give you surprises at each bend of the limpid river under the blue sky. Bear witness to rural China as peasants reap rice paddies, school kids and fisherman float by on bamboo rafts. After passing many world reknown sights you will arrive in to Yangshuo where you have the evening to explore.

Day 31: Yangshuo - Guangzhou

You have a free morning to explore more of Yangshuo. This afternoon we will transfer you back to Guilin for your overnight train to Guangzhou.

Day 32: Guangzhou

Today you will be met on arrival into the train station. You have a whole day excursion of Guangzhou - previously known as Canton, it remains an important international trading port and like Hong Kong is a Special Economic Zone aided by foreign and Chinese investment. Highlights of todays tour will include; Nanyue King’s Tomb, Yuexiu Park, Liurong Temple, Xinghai Musical Hall and Zhongshan Square.

Day 33: Guangzhou

This morning you will catch the train to Hongkong. Your on the go arrangements end here. Please make your own way to your accommodation you have booked in Hong Kong.
