Day 1
Havana

Sunday. Upon arrival at Havana Airport transfer to our joining hotel. The rest of the day is free for you to independently explore this city seemingly stuck in time, in every corner are historical influences from the Spanish conquest and the African slave trade, to the bustling and lavish vacation paradise for wealthy North Americans in the 1950’s.

Days 2-3
Vinales

Havana - Vinales. Leaving the bustle of Havana, we will pass through the scenic countryside en route to Viñales. This delightful town is close to the striking Sierra de los Órganos Mountains. On arrival, we'll check into our home-stays and meet our friendly host families. Take some time to get to know the culture first-hand with your host family and enjoy some wholesome home-cooked Cuban food.

On our included tour of the surrounding countryside, we walk through tobacco fields where the finest tobacco in the world is grown, as well as learn about the local produce grown in the surrounding farmlands. The local guide explains the agriculture, geology, flora and fauna of the area. There's also a chance to visit a local farmer and see how they roll a true "campesino" cigar. After a free afternoon, in the evening we'll dine at the homestay with the option of listening to some live local Cuban music and trying out some salsa steps.

Day 4
Soroa

Vinales - Soroa. We leave the charms of Viñales and stay overnight in Soroa where there are nearby short hikes to waterfalls, look-out points and an orchid garden for you to explore. For those less energetic there is plenty of free time to relax.

Days 5-6
Las Terrazas & Jibacoa

Soroa - Jibacoa. On day 5, we will travel by bus from Soroa to Las Terrazas, Cuba's first sustainable rural community and biosphere reserve. Here we will take a guided tour of an antique 19th century French coffee plantation and learn about the old coffee trade in Cuba and the slaves' role in the coffee harvest. In the afternoon we travel onwards to Jibacoa, where we'll have two free days to take in the sun and relax to our heart's content staying in an all-inclusive hotel. If that's not enough, why not have a soothing massage right on the beach.

Day 7
Back to Havana

Jibacoa - Havana. After your fill of sun and surf we head back to Havana, where you will have another chance to explore the city. As a UNESCO world heritage site steeped in history, you will find plenty to keep you busy.

Day 8
Santa Clara

Havana - Santa Clara. After leaving Havana, we spend the night at Santa Clara, where guerrilla leader, and revolutionary theorist, Ernesto "Ché" Guevara de la Serna led the revolutionary troops in the decisive battle of the Cuban Revolution. The leader gained fame (and notoriety) as an outspoken critic of U.S. foreign policy, and as a leading advocate of Cuban-style socialism and guerilla warfare throughout impoverished Latin America. We visit the Ché Guevara memorial and museum where the alleged remains of Ché Guevara are buried. You can also visit the Monumento a la Toma del Tren Blindado, a battle site where Che Guevara derailed an armoured train, defeating those driving it.

Day 9
Cienfuegos

Santa Clara - Cienfuegos. Also known as the 'Pearl of the South' because of its beautiful bay, lovely colonial architecture, and unforgettable hospitality, Cienfuegos will keep you easily entertained. There are options to explore some amazing scuba and snorkelling sights and to discover fascinating museums and other colonial treasures.

Days 10-12
Trinidad

Cienfuegos - Trinidad. On day 10 we travel to Trinidad a colonial gem with an array of cobbled streets, colourfully painted buildings, elegant palaces, and lovely colonial plazas. Enjoy your free time and take a tour of the nearby Valley of the Sugar Mills, now a World Heritage Site; relax at nearby Ancona beach or go totally Cuban and take a salsa lesson.

Day 13
Camaguey

Trinidad-Camaguey. After 2 days of rest and relaxation in Trinidad we travel to Camaguey, Cuba's third largest city. Camaguey’s maze of streets were built originally to thwart pirate invaders so be careful not to get too lost! After a night in the town, you can wake the following morning and hop on bicycle taxis to tour the city and its labyrinth streets, visiting all of the major sites. That afternoon you can explore further and delve into the history of the fascinating town.

Day 14
Holguin

Camaguey - Holguin. Today we travel to the popular resort of Holguin for our homestay. With some of the richest scenery in Cuba, Holguin is surrounded by high mountains, rich fields and soft sand beaches. Believed to be the region where Christopher Colombus first landed, the area is full of fascinating history.

Days 15-17
Baracoa

Holguin - Baracoa. Today we drive to Baracoa, a small seaside town surrounded by rich vegetation where a number of small rivers flow into the ocean. We can take an interesting walk through a small cacao farm, where they explain the process of making chocolate. This small town is deserted during the day but at night, livens up with salsa bars and clubs. it's off to Baracoa to begin our 3 night stay. Why not take a cruise on the River Toa whilst here?Baracoa - Santiago de Cuba. After three days in the town, we drive to Santiago de Cuba arriving late afternoon. Here you can enjoy a salsa lesson, or explore the cathedral, copper mine and museum. You have the option of visiting, the El Moro Castle, built to protect the city from marauding pirates with its stunning sea views and the famous church El Cobre, where people pilgrimage from all over Cuba to ask the deity's help and return to thank her.

In the evenings a popular place to visit is the famous Casa de la Trova for some live music, where many of the Buena Vista Social Club played before they became famous.

Days 18-19
Santiago de Cuba

Baracoa - Santiago de Cuba. After three days in the town, we drive to Santiago de Cuba arriving late afternoon. Here you can enjoy a salsa lesson, or explore the cathedral, copper mine and museum. You have the option of visiting, the El Moro Castle, built to protect the city from marauding pirates with its stunning sea views and the famous church El Cobre, where people pilgrimage from all over Cuba to ask the deity's help and return to thank her.

In the evenings a popular place to visit is the famous Casa de la Trova for some live music, where many of the Buena Vista Social Club played before they became famous.

Day 20
Havana

Santiago de Cuba - Havana. Today we have a morning flight with time in Havana in the afternoon to enjoy some last minute sightseeing and shopping. Tonight we can enjoy a farewell dinner in the evening before saying our goodbyes.
