Destination Tintin - Useful Information

Detailed here is a bit of further information to assist you with choosing the Tintin adventure that is right for you - along with other tips, useful for planning your holiday:

GROUP SIZE:

The family holidays will be limited to groups of 25 and the holidays for adult Tintin fans to 20 participants (excluding our Tintin expert, local guide and members of the On the Go team). Of course, on private journeys, your group can be as small or large as you wish.

YOUR GUIDES:

Our expert local guides will also accompany you throughout your adventure. They will make your holiday as seamless as possible, ensuring smooth hotel check-in, organising day-to-day activities and giving you tips on where to shop and eat at each port of call – our ‘local intelligence’ as we like to say! Also accompanying some of the holidays will be one of our Tintin experts – overflowing with inspiring narrative on Hergé and all things ‘Tintin’.

ACCOMMODATION:

We’ll be staying at a selection of 3, 4 and 5-star hotels, charming heritage properties, desert camps, jungle lodges and aboard Nile cruises. The emphasis is not on luxury but comfort, convenience and charm – travelling in a manner that Tintin did. For private groups, accommodation may be handpicked exactly to your liking.

CHILDREN DISCOUNTS:

All children aged 12 or under and sharing a room with their parents will receive a 20% discount on the regular tour prices. Additionally, adjoining rooms are may be booked for family holidays.

SINGLE SUPPLEMENTS:

As a major component of the holiday cost is hotel accommodation, single travellers are required to pay a supplement as their room cost is not shared with anyone else. We do offer to match up travellers of the same sex, thus avoiding the single person supplement. If you would prefer your own room you will need to pay the single person supplement as indicated.

TOUR DATES:

In 2011 we have planned 2/3 tour dates for each of our destinations: India, Egypt and Jordan –  for adult Tintin fans and select departures for families – as indicated on the tour pages. Tours which are accompanied by a Tintin expert are also indicated on the tour pages.

VISA AND VACCINATION REQUIREMENTS:

Please refer to the India, Jordan and Egypt sections of our website for further information on tourist visa requirements for travel to these destinations.

TRAVEL INSURANCE:

You must be fully insured for travel in destination(s) that you are planning to travel to. We will be happy to advise on suitable policy cover. Prior to travel, we will require full details and a copy of your travel insurance.

INTERNATIONAL FLIGHTS:

Seemingly no country was immune to the allure of Tintin and his adventures have reached the far corners of the world with the albums now translated in many languages. As we expect English-speaking people to join these holidays from all over the world, we do not include the cost of international flights in any prices quoted. As an ATOL-bonded tour operator, we can assist with booking of international flights. Please contact us for further details at the time of booking.

HOW TO BOOK:

You may book your Tintin adventure by calling us, e-mailing us at tintin@onthegotours.com - or booking directly online. Apart from online bookings, a signed booking form, which you will find at the back of this brochure, is required. To secure your spot on tour, a non-refundable deposit of 25% of the total holiday cost is required. Any international flights booked will carry relevant cancellation charges, as per the conditions of the tickets booked.
