Egypt is pretty much a year round destination - though the summer months can be particualry hot, especially towards the south of Egypt in Luxor and Aswan. The best time to visit Egypt is from September through to April. Christmas, New Year and Easter are very popular times to visit Egypt, so we advise to book earlier if you plan to visit Egypt druing these times.
Summer: Temperatures in Egypt and Jordan are generally high, particularly during the summer months from May to August, when the sun can be quite strong, so take plenty of sunscreen. It's still fine to visit Egypt at these times of year and the heat is more dry than humid.
Winter: In Cairo and the Nile Delta region, winter (October to February) can be cooler - so take a jacket, long-sleeved tops and trousers for the cooler evenings. The south remains warm during this time but again, temperatures do drop in the evenings. This is the best time to visit Egypt if you want to avoid the hot sun. March and April are pleasent and good times to visit Egypt too.
Rainfall is negligible, except on Egypt’s coast.
Note: If you are planning on taking a felucca cruise or camping in the desert oases in Egypt or Wadi Rum in Jordan, are advised to pack a sleeping bag for additional warmth as temperatures anytime of the year do fall at night.
A great time to visit Egypt would be to co-incide your travels with a local festival or event. And thre is none better that the spectacular Sun Festival at Abu Simbel which happens twice a year - in February and in October. Have a look at our sun festival tours here.
