You can opt to float over Luxor in a hot air balloon first thing this morning before we visit Luxor’s famous West Bank. The twin seated statues known as the Colossi of Memnon are the first site we'll see before we visit the legendary Valleys of the Kings and the imposing limestone, colonnaded Temple of Hatshepsut. Hatshepsut was one of only 3 Egyptian ruling queens. The most famous tomb in the Valley of the Kings is that of the boy-King Tutankhamen. Archaeologist Howard Carter discovered his intact and treasure -filled tomb in 1922. After exploring the West Bank we take a break before visiting the colossal Temple of Karnak. The rest of the day is at leisure.

Hotels and expanded infrastructure provide holidaymakers with excellent aquatic facilities for sail boarding, yachting, deep-sea fishing, SCUBA diving and snorkeling and Hurghada’s central location provides a gateway to prime offshore reefs, which are some of the finest in the world. Hurghada also has plenty of restaurants and late night bars for evening entertainment.

Day 9

Cairo - Amman - Wadi Rum. This morning you will need to fly to Amman for the next leg of the tour. If your tour start date falls between now and 30 Sept 2015, please book the RJ502 departing at 09:15/10:15 and arriving to Amman at 11:30. Upon arrival into Amman, we transfer to our On The Go vehicle and travel on to Wadi Rum. Wadi Rum - a vast, silent landscape of pastel coloured sketches of sandy desert punctuated by amazing rock formations known as jebels. Here we'll undertake a 4x4 desert safari, before tucking into a Bedouin dinner at our desert camp. Bed tonight is under a galaxy of stars or in tents.

Walking down the gravel tracks, we’ll explore the ancient Nabatean tombs and the Roman rock-carved streets lined with temples, royal tombs, staircases, arched gates and public buildings. There is also a gigantic amphitheatre originally built to house 3000 spectators, though the Romans increased capacity to a whopping 7000. After the guided tour, you’re free to head off and further explore, haggle for a horse and chariot ride or just relax and take it all in.

Free evening or why not test your culinary skills in the Petra Kitchen? Consider our Petra Kitchen bolt-on - something good's cooking bolt-on.

Having led the Israelites for 40 years through the wilderness, it is from this panoramic vantage point, that Moses is said to have seen the Promised Land.
