Day 1: Cairo

Welcome to Egypt and the start of your holiday! Arrive Cairo, included transfer to hotel and overnight.

Day 2: Cairo - Alexandria

This morning after your breakfast we head out of the city to the small Coastal Village of El Alamein. Here visit, the famous area of the decisive Allied victory in WWII, we then drive to your hotel in Alexandria.

Day 3: Alexandria

Todays insightful guided exploration includes the Catacombs at Kom El Shoukafa and nearby Roman Ruins, Pompey's pillar, Alexandria Library and the Montazah gardens. Enjoy the New Year Eve Gala Dinner at your hotel.

Day 4: Alexandria - Cairo

Morning or afternoon the choice is yours we drive back to your hotel in Cairo.

Day 5: Cairo

Enjoy a half day excursion to the Egyptian Museum, home to the most extensive collection of ancient Egyptian antiquities in the world. Arguably the most famous exhibit is the stunning solid gold funerary mask of the boy-King Tutankhamen. An entire gallery is devoted to the treasures unearthed by Howard Carter at Tutankhamen’s tomb in the Valley of the Kings in 1922.

Day 6: Cairo - Luxor

Today we tour the Pyramids at Giza Plateau. Gaze in awe at Cheops (Khufu) - the largest of the three great pyramids. Constructed from over 2.5 million limestone blocks, it is thought to have taken more than 20 years to construct. The other two - Chephren and Mycerinus are equally impressive. Afterward we tour the tomb-strewn necropolis of Saqqara, featuring King Zhoser’s step pyramid. Constructed by Imhotep, the pharaoh’s chief architect in 2700 BC, this was the template for all future pyramid construction. This evening we board our overnight sleeper train to Luxor. **option to fly**

Valley of the Kings

Day 7: Luxor - Nile Cruising

Welcome to Luxor, Arriving here you will be met by your guide for a morning visit to the West Bank - home to the legendary Valley of the Kings. You'll also see the colonnaded Temple of Queen Hatshepsut. Return to Luxor for check-in on board our Nile 5 star cruiser. Lunch at leisure and time to relax until our early evening visit to the Temple of Luxor. Luxor Temple looks stunning at dusk and is beautifully illuminated at night.

Day 8: Nile Cruising

Morning visit to the magnificent Temple of Karnak. More than a temple, it’s a gigantic and stunning complex of sanctuaries and pylons dedicated to the Theban gods. Anchors away this afternoon as we sail downstream to Esna via the Esna Lock.

Day 9: Nile Cruising

Relax as we sail the Nile. Two stops will be made to visit the waterside temples of Edfu and Temple of Kom Ombo. Arrive Aswan late evening.

Day 10: Nile Cruising

Today, we enjoy a short boat trip to Agilika Island for Philae Temple - dedicated to the goddess Isis. The temple dates from 4th century BC but the Ptolomies and the Romans up to 3rd century AD built most of the existing structures. In danger of being completely submerged by the rising water of Lake Nasser, in 1972 UNESCO stepped in and an 8-year rescue effort was undertaken to relocate the entire temple 20m higher on nearby Agilika Island. After lunch, a visit to the High Dam and take a felucca cruise to Elephantine and Kitchener Island. As the sun sets, free time to shop in the colourful souqs and markets or simply relax and watch an amazing sunset in Egypt’s southern most town straddling the River Nile.

Day 11: Nile Cruising - Cairo

After breakfast you disembark your ship. Enjoy the day at your leisure to explore we will make sure your bags are safe. This evening a transfer to the station for your sleeper train back to Cairo. **option to fly**

Day 12: Cairo

Morning arrival in Cairo and our team will transfer you to your hotel.

Enjoy a day at leisure to explore the city. We would highly recommend a visit to the Khan El Khalili Markets.

Day 14: Cairo

Bid a fond farewell to incredible Egypt. We will transfer you to the airport in time for your flight home.
