t. First to the Giza Plateau to see the pyramids and lion-headed Sphinx. Onwards to Saqqara, an ancient necropolis of sand-strewn tombs and home to the great step pyramid. Zhoser’s step pyramid was the first ever constructed in 2700 BC by Imhotep, the pharaoh’s chief architect. The evening is spent at your hotel in Cairo.
Today you will spend the day exploring the sights of Cairo including the Egyptian Museum, Islamic Cairo and perhaps the hustle and bustle of the markets.
After breakfast we dead to the famous Bahariyya Oasis and White Desert. This Oasis consists of several colonies of palm trees and was created many thousand years ago, long before the first Nile civilizations, when the Nile’s course used to pass that way.
After breakfast we continue by desert 4 x 4, we drive to the Crystal Mountain - a large rock formation made from sparkling quartz and we visit the ancient Temple of Alexander the Great Our next destination – the White Desert (Sahra al-Beida) is so-named as it region of striking blinding-white rock formations shaped by wind erosion. We spend the night camping in the White Desert.
This morning you can choose to lie in or wake up early and view the sunrise - as the sun creeps above the horizon the white chalk turns into beautiful shades of pink and orange. After breakfast and some time to explore we are transferred back to Cairo
This morning we transer to Cairo airport to take our flight down to Aswan. After you settle into your hotel why not choose to enhance your holiday with an optional trip to Abu Simbel possibly the most awe-inspiring temple of all ancient Egypt, with its gigantic rock–cut façade, was created to revere the mighty ruler Ramses II. Guarding the entrance to the temple, the 4 colossal statues of Ramses II sit majestically staring out across the desert, seemingly since time began. Overnight in Aswan.
After breakfast, a visit to the High Dam and enjoy a short boat trip to Agilika Island for Philae Temple - dedicated to the goddess Isis. We then transfer to your 5 Star Nile Cruiser to enjoy lunch before taking a felucca cruise to Elephantine and Kitchener Island. The evening is spent aboard your Cruise where you will enjoy a lovely dinner.
Disembarking briefly in Kom Ombo we visit the temple before travelling to the Temple of Horus at Edfu, a huge complex that began construction in 237 BC! Another afternoon of relaxing and enjoying the bliss of sailing the Nile in style. Dinner is once again enjoyed onboard.
After a wonderful breakfast we cross to Luxor’s West Bank, where one of the first sights you’ll see is the Colossi of Memnon. This huge pair of enthroned statues is all that remains of the temple of Amenophis III. Later we tour the famed Valley of the Kings and the Temple of Queen Hatshepsut before transferring to the airport to board your flight to Sharm el Sheik. The night is spent at your hotel.
A relaxing day by the pool in Sharm El Sheik. Why not enhance your holiday with a day trip to St Katherine Monastery who's origins date back to 337 AD, when the Byzantine Empress Helena ordered construction of a chapel around the Burning Bush, already a focus for pilgrims and hermits. Today is an early start with a trip out into the desert. Enjoy a camel ride before watching the sunset whilst enjoying dinner and star gazing by telescope. Here you will enjoy a fascinating Bedouin show before returning to your hotel in Sharm el Sheik.
Sadly today is the end of your Egyptian adventure. After breakfast we will take you to the airport where you will catch your flight home.
