Welcome to Egypt and the start of your holiday! We pick you up at the airport and transfer you to your hotel.
A big day out. First to the Giza Plateau to see the pyramids and lion-headed Sphinx. Onwards to Saqqara, an ancient necropolis of sand-strewn tombs and home to the great step pyramid. Zhoser’s step pyramid was the first ever constructed in 2700 BC by Imhotep, the pharaoh’s chief architect. Later there is opportunity to freshen up before boarding the overnight sleeper train to Aswan.
Arrive in Aswan and check into your hotel. Today is free to relax around the pool or explore the wonderful spice market.
Today consider the optional early morning air excursion to famous Abu Simbel, the rock-cut temple of King Ramses II, the Great Builder. Today we have a visit to the Aswan High Dam and Philae temple. This afternoon, we board our Nile Cruiser in time for lunch and the start of your 3 night voyage downstream on the River Nile.
Relax, go for a swim or just chill out in the sun on deck. Let your troubles melt away, as the Nile Cruiser plies its route. A stop will be made at the Temple of Kom Ombo - dedicated to the crocodile headed god - Sobek, and also Edfu Temple.
We continue sailing along the Nile, arriving into Luxor. Enjoy lunch of board before we take a tour of Karnak Temple. This evening, you have the option to visit Luxor temple - please see the 'Enhance your Holiday' section for further details and prices.
An early start allows us to avoid some of the fierce midday heat as we venture to the tomb strewn Valley of the Kings. Opt to join our hot air balloon excursion - fabulous at sunrise! Highlights today include the Colossi of Memnon, the Valleys of the Kings and Queens and the colonnaded Temple of Queen Hatshepsut. Later this evening, we board the overnight sleeper train back to Cairo.
Arriving into Cairo, you will have time to freshen up before we head to the Egyptian Museum to explore the treasure of Ancient Egypt.
Today we travel overland from Cairo to Dahab - your base for the coming days. Dahab offers great diving, snorkelling, swimming and sun-worshipping possibilities. The waterfront is dotted with laid back cafes, bars and shops, perfect for eating, drinking and a little relaxing retail therapy.
Today, we bid farewell to Dahab and travel back to Cairo, arriving early this afternoon. The rest of today is at your leisure.
After breakfast and hotel check out, we will transfer you to the airport in time for your departure flight.
