Welcome to Jordan and the start of your holiday! Arrive Amman and included onward transfer to our hotel. If arriving before midday why not opt to visit Jerash? Have a read of the 'enhance your holiday' page for prices.
This morning, we tour the citadel of Amman, Archaeological Museum and enjoy free time shopping in the local souq, before driving to Umm ar Rasas, a haunted deserted city on the ancient caravan routes. The village is the site of the now ruinous Roman garrison town of Kastron Mefaa, which developed during the Byzantine and Umayyad periods into a relatively important city. Large mosaic floors from two of its dozen or more churches have been painstakingly cleaned and protected. The mosaic floor of the Church of St Stephen dates to 785. After, we drive south to your hotel in Petra.
Welcome to the Rose City! Access to the city on our guided exploration is through the famous narrow, deep siq. The rocks then give way to the most amazing site – that of the fantastically impressive Treasury. Walking down the gravel tracks, we'll explore the ancient Nabatean tombs and the Roman rock-carved streets lined with temples, royal tombs, staircases, arched gates, public buildings and in the afternoon we ascend to Ad Deir better known as the monastery.
Enjoy a morning to explore Petra on your own. We then drive to Wadi Rum for an included 4x4 adventure for two hours. Perhaps you would like longer in a jeep or a camel trek as opposed to jeep. Have a read of the 'enhance your holiday' page for prices. Enjoy the evening at our remote desert camp, dining under a blanket of stars.
After breakfast in the desert we transfer you to Aqaba for day at leisure on the shores of the Red Sea.
Day at leisure.
Drive up the Wadi Araba road, route of the ancient spice caravans, to reach the Dead Sea, lowest point on the Earth’s surface. Enjoy a “swim” in its mineral-rich waters, and lunch at a resort hotel. In the late afternoon visit Mt. Nebo, with its panoramic view over the Jordan Valley, Dead Sea, Jericho and the hills and spires of Judea before heading onto Madaba.
Visit Jerash, the world’s best-preserved Roman provincial city. Return to Madaba for a free afternoon to explore the home to the world’s largest collection of ancient mosaics. Enjoy a farewell dinner at Haret jdoudna, one of Jordan’s very best traditional restaurants.
