Arriving into Cairo airport we will be there to meet you and transfer you to your hotel in Alexandria.
Over the next two days you we will take you to visit all the highlights of this city and surrounding area steeped in history quite unique to Egypt. Highlights will be the small Coastal Village of El Alamein - famous as the scene of a decisive Allied victory in WWII. Also, the Catacombs at Kom El Shoukafa and nearby Roman Ruins, Pompey's pillar, Fort Qaitbay and the list goes on.
Starting early (7:00am) we drive along the coast to Siwa. Stopping for a light lunch in Marsa Matrouh and walk around the markets we continue onward to Siwa. Evening walk around the surrounding town.
This morning we take a leisurely bicycle ride through the verdant date palm groves, visiting the local sights en-route. Our first stop is the Temple of the Oracle, We cycle to Cleopatra Spring for a dip in the pool as the spring fed warm water bubbles to the surface. Afternoon enjoy sunset dinner, swim and campfire at the ‘Great Saltwater Lake'
Today we visit Mountain of the Dead and explore Old Shali. Old Shali is the old city abandoned in 1926 after 3 days of rain that literally melted the mud brick city. Afternoon - Desert Safari. 4x4 through the massive sand dunes of the Great Sand Sea, stopping off at an amazing natural spring fed lake surrounded by miles of sandy desert. We also visit the site of an ancient ocean abundant with marine fossils and finish the day at the hot spring of Bir Wahed for swimming and sunset dinner.
Driving by our jeep from siwa oasis visiting sotra and after that we complete our way passed from el Bahreen towards baharyia oasis overnight in Baharyia oasis.
We check out Bahariyya - an ancient oasis. Continuing by 4x4, we visit the Temple of Alexander the Great, Tombs of the Nobles and the Black Desert, as we push towards the White Desert. So named, as the sand resembles snow, the striking White Desert is full of unusual wind-eroded limestone formations and our remote overnight base.
Driving to Farafra oasis, we visit a local artist and sculptor Mr Badr Aly. Much of his work made from natural materials found within the oasis offers an insight into local life, customs and traditions. Before arriving to Dakhla, we explore the fascinating, only recently abandoned medieval city of Al Qasr. We continue on to Deir al-Haggar - the Roman Temple dedicated to the Theban Triad and take a dip in the local, mineral rich hot springs. GC Doughs hotel in Dakhla
Journeying onward to Kharga we visit the Temple of Hibis (exterior only) and the rambling 4th century necropolis of al-Bagawat. Overnight Kharga.
We have a long day in the desert today as we head north east out of Kharga. We’re heading towards Asyut but just before reaching it we turn south to Sohag and our overnight at your basic house stay accommodation.
We start our day with the short journey to Akhmim, ancient Ipu, and the magnificent statue of Meritamun which measures over 35 feet in height. From here we head south towards Abydos and one of the glories of ancient Egypt, the temple of Seti I. Leaving Abydos behind we drive along the banks of the Nile before arriving at Dendera and the temple of Hathor. We continue our journey to Luxor checking into your hotel.
Enjoy an in-dept guided tour to Dier Medina, Medinet Habu and other west bank highlights you may like to see. This evening off to the airport for your flight back to Cairo. Arrival transfer to your hotel.
