Welcome to Egypt! Upon arrival the group will be picked up from the airport and transferred to the hotel for the evening.
Today we tour the Pyramids at Giza Plateau. Gaze in awe at Cheops (Khufu) - the largest of the three great pyramids. Constructed from over 2.5 million limestone blocks, it is thought to have taken more than 20 years to construct. The other two - Chephren and Mycerinus are equally impressive. -If you want you can enjoy a short Camel ride by the Pyramids. Afterward we tour the tomb-strewn necropolis of Saqqara, featuring King Zhoser’s step pyramid. Constructed by Imhotep, the pharaoh’s chief architect in 2700 BC, this was the template for all future pyramid construction.
Today we will transfer you to the airport for your flight to Luxor. Upon arrival we will pick you up and transfer you to your hotel. The remainder of the day is free.
Taking a day trip out to visit the temples of Abydos and Dendera. The temple of Dendera is dedicated to Hathor, the God of joy, dance and love. Hathor was famous for having amazing healing powers and it was not uncommon for the sick to journey here in order to be cured. Abydos is a burial place where some of the first kings of Egypt were buried, however remains from the earlier Predynastic period have also been found.
Optional early morning Hot Air Ballooning excursion. This morning enjoy a guided tour of the West Bank of Luxor: Valley of the Kings, Valley of the Queens, the Hatshepsut temple and the Colossi of Memnon. After lunch aboard the Nile cruiser we will visit Luxor and Karnak Temples.
Sailing onto Esna and passing the lock, we continue on to Edfu for the evening. Relax on the sun deck and enjoy the spectacular views, great facilities and service on board as the cruiser plies its course.
This morning a visit to Edfu, one of Egypt's best preserved temples. We sail onto Kom Ombo and after lunch visit to The Temple of Kom Ombo which is dedicated to two gods - Sobek the crocodile God and Harveris the Sun God. Later this evening we arrive into Aswan.
Today, we enjoy a short boat trip to Agilika Island for Philae Temple - dedicated to the goddess Isis and we also visit to the High Dam. After lunch, we take a felucca cruise to Elephantine or Kitchener Island. As the sun sets, free time to shop in the colourful souqs and markets or simply relax and watch an amazing sunset in Egypt’s southern most town straddling the River Nile.
Optional early morning excursion to Abu Simbel. Today you will be transferred to the airport for your flight back to Cairo. The remainder of the day is free.
This morning we venture to old Islamic Cairo and the Egyptian Museum, home to the most extensive collection of ancient Egyptian antiquities in the world. Arguably the most famous exhibit is the stunning solid gold funerary mask of the boy-King Tutankhamen. An entire gallery is devoted to the treasures unearthed by Howard Carter at Tutankhamen’s tomb in the Valley of the Kings in 1922.
