Today, we visit Giza Plateau, where we explore the pyramids and Sphinx. It is estimated Cheops (the largest of the pyramids) was constructed from no less than 2.5million quarried limestone blocks, weighing around 6 million tonnes. Later we explore Saqqara - an ancient necropolis with many half-buried tombs and the famous Zhoser's step pyramid.
This morning you will drive to Alexandria on the Mediterranean Coast you will enjoy a full days sightseeing. Founded by Alexander the Great, Alexandria boasts wonderful beaches and an impressive seafront corniche, along which are dotted cafes and restaurants, as well as catacombs, souks and relics from a bygone age.
Today we head out to the small Coastal Village of El Alamein - famous as the scene of a decisive Allied victory in WWII. We stop for a light lunch in Marsa Matrouh we continue onward to Siwa . Evening walk and opportunity for dinner in a typical Siwan style restaurant.
Today you will visit Dead mountain, Siwa house museum and old fortress of Shali, then the oracle temple where you will see the coronation hall of Alexander the great, then on to the ruins of Amoun temple here have a swim in Cleopatra pool, then you go to Dakrour mountain (famous for its hot sand, the best place for sand bath) used as an effective natural cure for Rheumatism, Rheumatoid, enjoy the reminder of the evening free time.
Today we head to Bahariyya Oasis and check into our hotel for the night.
We check out Bahariyya - an ancient oasis. Continuing by 4 x 4, we visit the Temple of Alexander the Great, Tombs of the Nobles and the Black Desert, as we push towards the White Desert. So named, as the sand resembles snow, the striking White Desert is full of unusual wind-eroded limestone formations and our remote overnight base.
We drive to Farafra oasis, where we can enjoy a dip in the natural springs. Continuing to Dakhla, a true highlight is the medieval city of Al Qasr. Only recently abandoned, we wander through the eerie high walled city. Many of the houses here have acacia wood lintels above the doorways. We continue onto Deir al-Haggar, the Roman Temple dedicated to the Theban Triad.
Leaving Dakhla Oasis, we continue to Kharga to visit the Temple of Hibis and the rambling 4th century necropolis of al-Bagawat, before heading onto Luxor and checking into our hotel.
Today we travel by train south to Aswan. After hotel check-in we visit the High Dam and travel by boat to the Temple of Philae, dedicated to the goddess Isis. Remainder of day and evening free.
Optional early morning air excursion to the colossal Temple of Abu Simbel. This afternoon, we board our Nile felucca for a 2-night voyage on the River Nile downstream.
Disembarking, we enjoy a visit to Kom Ombo Temple and the Temple of Horus at Edfu - a huge complex that began construction in 237 BC! We then continue to Luxor. Home of the legendary Valley of the Kings and Temple of Karnak. Enjoy some rest and relaxation. Tonight, an optional visit is available to the Temple of Luxor, alternatively enjoy your evening at leisure.
An early start today as we venture to the striking Valley of the Kings. (Optional hot air ballooning prior to Valley of the Kings tour). Highlights include the Colossi of Memnon, the legendary Valley of the Kings and the Temple of Queen Hatshepsut. This afternoon after lunch we visit the Temple of Karnak. Later, we travel to Hurghada.
We will transfer you to the airport for the flight from Hurghada to Sharm El Sheikh. On arrival we will transfer you to Dahab and check you into the hotel. (The ferry boat isn't very reliable, so we have included a flight from Hurghada to Sharm el Sheikh).
Open your eyes this morning and take a peek out of your window at the beautiful blue of the Red Sea waters. Enjoy your time here maybe opt to go snorkelling or diving, to view the amazing array of aquatic life in the nearby reefs or just relax in this laid back town.
We will transfer you to Sharm el Sheikh airport in time for your departure flight today.
