Elephant Festival - Jaipur

This is one festival that really does what it says on the tin (although aside from the elephants, this particular tin also has a load of dancers and musicians in it.) Music, colour, dancing and a load of elephants – the Elephant Festival is a riot of colour and sound.

After visitors are greeted by the elephants and offered garlands of flowers, judges and guests take part in deciding on the ‘Best Decorated Elephant.’ Then it’s time for the races and elephant polo, and just in case you ever wondered who might win in a tug ‘o war between men and elephants, we finish off with an epic of tug ‘o war between men and elephants. The Elephant Festival is available on our Taj Traveller, Deserts, Palaces, Ganges, Highway to the Himalayas and Delhi to Darjeeling tours departing on 3 March 2012. Incidentally, all the elephants taking part in the festival are female.
