Pushkar Camel Fair - Pushkar

Pushkar Camel Fair - Pushkar

With up to 300 000 people and 20 000 camels, cattle and horses, the Pushkar Camel Fair attracts villagers, farmers, traders and their livestock from all over Rajasthan. It’s an authentic cultural spectacle that’s totally unique and promises to be rather fun.

Aside from the serious business of livestock trading, a range of peripheral activities are on offer at the Pushkar Camel Fair. Take a look at the longest moustache competition, or keep score at the cricket match between the local Pushkar club and a random assortment of tourists. There are also hundreds of authentic stalls to explore, packed with jewellery and textiles from the surrounding areas. It’s a unique adventure and the chance to take a peek at Pushkar itself, one of the five most holy pilgrimage sites in India for Hindus. The Brahma temple here is the most important one in Pushkar, and is in fact the only Brahma temple in the whole of India. Your baggage allowance may not permit a camel, but you’re sure to find something truly authentic here in Pushkar to take home with you.
