Vyugovey Ice Sculpture Festival - Moscow

There are advantages to living in one of the coldest countries in the world – you get refrigerated water straight out of regular taps, drinks stay colder for longer, and ice-carving festivals are really easy to hold.

Muscovites descend on the Memorial Museum of Cosmonautics for the annual Vyugovey Ice Sculpture Festival. Every year there’s a new theme, and sculptors from around the world arrive to impress each other and their visitors with fantastical shapes and light-enhanced ice sculptures. The cold temperatures mean that the festival lasts for ages, and with new sculptures being created every day this is one Russian festival that combines culture and art with a bit of history and loads of fun.
