Day 1: Thimphu

Welcome to Bhutan. Upon arrival you will be met by our local represtentatives and transferred to your hotel in Thimphu. Enjoy the rest of the day at your leisure. Overnight Thimphu.

Day 2: Thimphu

Today enjoy a full day sightseeing tour of Thimphu, highlights include the National Memorial Chorten, also known as the Thimphu Chorten and is a prominent landmark in the city with its golden spires and bells. Also visit the National Library with its extensive collection of Buddhist Literature. Tashichhodzong a Buddhist monastery and fortress on the northern edge of the city. Overnight Thimphu.

Day 3: Thimphu - Punakha

This afternoon drive to Punakha the forma capital of Bhutan and the seat of government. Diving through the Honsho checkpoint we climb to the Dochu Pass. Here if the weather if good we get fantastic panoramic views of the Bhutan Himalayas. After decending this evening visit Chimi Lhakhang where legend states that Lama Kunley subdued a demon of Dochu La with his “magic thunderbolt of wisdom” and trapped it in a rock at the location close to where the chorten now stands. Day 4: Punakha

Today you set out with a packed lunch and set off out into the wilderness to visit Khamsun Yueling Temple just north of Punakha. After a short walk we reach this hillside temple. After lunch visit Punakha Dzong, also known as Pungtang Dechen Photrang Dzong (meaning “the palace of great happiness or bliss). After exploring this site you will return to Punakha for the evening. Overnight Punakha.

Day 5: Punakha - Gangtey

Leaving Punakha we make the drive to the city of Gangte and visit the extensive 450 year old Gangte Goemba. You also have the oportunity to explore the Phobjikha Valley Region on foot. Overnight Gangtey

Day 6: Gangtey - Paro

Travlling back to Paro today you will arrive in the afternoon. Enjoy the rest of the afternoon at your leisure, why not poke your head into some of the handicraft shops. Overnight Paro.

Day 7: Paro

A full day guided sightseeing today to see the sights of Paro. Highlights include the Ta Dzong a cirular fortress that once protected the valley from Tibetan invaders. Afterwards you will visit Paro Rinpung Dzong, a magnificent fortress. This evening see you driving to Drugyal Dzong a fortress and Buddhist monastery, now in ruins, located in the upper part of the Paro valley. Overnight Paro

Day 8: Paro

Sadly your time has come to an end as you are transferred to the airport in time for your departure flight to your next destination.
