All foreign nationals must obtain a visa for a visit to India (and Nepal if undertaking our ‘Highway to Himalayas’ or any tailor made itinerary that includes Nepal). It is essential that the India visa is obtained prior to travel.

Australian, New Zealand and USA passport holders (and some other nationalities too) are now able to take advantage of India's new online Visa service. Information about the online tourist visa process (Electronic Travel Authorization scheme) can be found at:
The online application should be submitted a minimum of 4 days and a maximum of 30 days in advance of proposed date of arrival. Entry to India must be within 30 days of the ETA approval date and the visa is valid for 30 days from arrival.

After submitting your application, you will receive a receipt number and within the coming days (the Government of India notes this as 4 days) you will receive your ETA (Electronic Travel Authorization).
You will need to print a copy of this document to check in for your flight and again at immigration when arrivingto India. You are also required to carry a copy of the ETA at all times during your stay.

All nationalities require a visa to enter Sri Lanka.
Your visa application must be submitted to the Ministry of Emigration and Immigration via the online ETA (Electronic Travel Authorisation) prior to departure

This is a very simple process and requires no additional documents. You must fill in the required information and once the visa is approved, you will be notified with an ETA approval notice promptly.
All passenger travelling to Sri Lanka from 1 Jan 2012 onwards will be required to make a payment of USD $50 per person following the same ETA process.
The Visa issued will be a Double-Entry Tourists Visa applicable for 30 days from the date of arrival to Sri Lanka.
