Day 2: Delhi
This morning enjoy a half day sightseeing of Old Delhi including Jama Mosque, Red Fort, and rickshaw ride in the bylanes of the old city. This afternoon is free or you can pre-book an opportunity to enhance your holiday and visit New Delhi.
Day 3: Delhi - Agra
This afternoon we travel approx. 5 hours to Agra. This afternoon enjoy a tour of the magnificent Agra Fort which boasts some of India's finest Mughal buildings behind it's fortified walls.
Day 4: Agra - Jaipur
This morning enjoy a tour of the Taj Mahal. Possibly the most recognised of all India’s landmarks, the Taj Mahal was built by Shah Jahan in the 16th century. Later we travel onto Jaipur making a stop enroute at the deserted city of Fatehpur Sikri. Our visit includes the ruined city, Abundant City Palace, Mosque and Administrative Lay out.
Day 5: Jaipur
This morning, we travel beyond Jaipur to the 16th century Amber Fort. An exotic elephant ride (subject to availability) transports us to the lofty fort, where we’ll enjoy a tour of this Rajput extravaganza. This afternoon is free or you can pre-book an opportunity to enhance your holiday with the Jaipur Up Close optional.
Day 6: Jaipur - Bikaner
Today we travel approx. 6 hours to the 14th century desert town of Bikaner. Our tour includes Junagarh Fort.
Day 7: Bikaner - Jaisalmer
Driving approx. 7 hours through the Rajasthani Thar desert we arrive at the medieval caravan outpost of Jaisalmer, one of the jewels in India’s crown. Overnight Hotel Pleasant Haveli or similar.
Day 8: Jaisalmer
This morning enjoy a guided tour including Jaisalmer Fort, Jain temples and the Havelis (mansions). In the afternoon enjoy an excursion to Sam Sand Dunes for a short camel safari at sunset. Overnight Hotel Pleasant Haveli or similar.
Day 9: Jaisalmer - Jodhpur
An interesting 6 hour drive through increasingly varied scenery takes us to Jodhpur, a town at the edge of the mighty Thar Desert. Dominated by Meherangarh Fort which sits majestically atop a hill, Jodhpur is known as the Blue City. This is because of the coloured houses in the old town, painted indigo. We’ll enjoy some touring in this colourful Rajasthani city, taking in the mighty fort and bazaars of the old city which are gathered around the city’s tall clock tower.
Day 10: Jodhpur - Udaipur
Leaving Jodhpur we travel approx. 6 hours to Udaipur and enroute we visit Ranakpur, a small town tucked away in a remote valley and famed for its beautiful 14th century Jain temples. Overnight Jaiwana Haveli or similar.
Day 11: Udaipur
An oasis of cool, with its massive lake and Venetian-like appearance, Udaipur is one of the most romantic towns in Rajasthan. This morning we tour the City Palace, Jagdish temple, Saheliyon ki bari and Bharat Lok Kala Mandal. This evening enjoy a sunset cruise on Lake Pichola (on shared boat). Overnight Jaiwana Haveli or similar.
Day 12: Udaipur - Varanasi
Early this morning you will be transferred to the airport for your flight to Delhi departing approx. 07:40 and arriving 09:20 for your next flight to Varanasi departing 10:40 and arriving 11:50. These evening we visit the Ganges in the evening with guide to witness the evening Arti ceremony.
Day 13: Varanasi
This morning enjoy a walk through the Ghats, Old Park & Kashi viswanath Temple and drive through Benaras Hindu University. The remainder of the day is free.
Day 14: Varanasi - Kochi
This morning we will transfer you to the airport for your flight to Mumbai departing approx. 11:15 and arriving approx. 13:15. Here you will take your next flight departing approx. 17:0 to Kochi arriving approx. 19:05. Upon arrival we will pick you up and transfer you to your hotel for the evening. The 5th person in you travelling party will join the tour in Kochi today with arrival airport transfer.
Day 15: Kochi
Formerly a princely state, Kochi is also fondly referred to as “The Queen of the Arabian Sea”. This morning enjoy a sightseeing tour of the town including the beautiful Parsi Synagogue built in 1568, the Dutch Palace built by the Portuguese in 1555 and St Francis’ Church. This evening perhaps watch famous Keralan dancers perform.
Day 16: Kochi - Alleppey
Transferring approx. 2 hours embark on your houseboat and journey through the backwaters.
Day 19: Madurai
Enjoy a full day tour Thirumalai Nayak Palace,Mariamman, Theppakulam,Meenakshi Temple, Local Bazaar and Taylor market.
Day 20: Madurai - Chennai
Early this morning our representative and driver will meet you at your hotel to transfer you by private vehicle to the Railway Station in time for your departure from Madurai by train to Chennai. Train departs approx. 06:45. (Recheck timings locally; portage at the railway station is paid by our representative). Upon arrival into Chennai we will pick you up and transfer you to your hotel with the remainder of the day free. Overnight Hotel Raintree St. Mary.
Day 21: Chennai
Enjoy a full day tour to Kanchipuram, one of sacred cities in India and the seaside town of Mahabalipuram, famous for its shore temple. The city is also famous for handwoven silk. In Mahabalipuram, the huge rock-cut sculptures and mandapams (pillared pavilions) date from the 5th to 8th centuries. Overnight Hotel Raintree St. Mary.
Day 22: Chennai
A free day to relax or explore independently and shop for last minute souvenirs. Overnight Hotel Raintree St. Mary.
