Day 1: Delhi

Welcome to India and the start of your holiday! Arrive at Delhi airport where we will meet you and transfer you to the hotel. Rest of the day is free for you to relax after your long flight.

Day 2: Delhi

Free day.

Day 3: Delhi

Our full day guided sightseeing tour of Delhi today covers the colourful chaos of Old Delhi and the modern simplicity of New Delhi. This vibrant city is full of forts, monuments, temples, mosques and more. During the 16th and 17th centuries, Delhi was important centre of the Mughal dynasty and the British made it the capital city in 1911. We take in Red Fort, Jama Masjid and Chandni Chowk, the bustling bazaar, as well as the Raj Ghat and Shanti Vana – the cremation sites of Mahatama Gandhi and Jawahar Lal Nehru. In New Delhi we visit India Gate, Rasthrapati Bhawan, Parliament House and Humayun’s Tomb.

Day 4: Delhi - Agra

Departing Delhi, we journey to Agra, once India’s Mughal capital. Here, we visit the impressive Agra Fort, which boasts some of India's finest Mughal buildings behind it's fortified walls. Later on we take a motorised buggy to the legendary Taj Mahal and witness a magical sunset. Built by Shah Jahan in the 16th century as an enduring memorial to his beloved wife Mumtaz. Built entirely of white marble, the Taj Mahal has no peers.

Day 5: Agra - Jaipur

En route to Jaipur, we visit the ghostly former Mughal city of Fatehpur Sikri, abandoned due to lack of water. As we get closer to Jaipur we stop for a tasty lunch and visit Chandra Haveli, a charming haveli (mansion house) with small courtyard, lawned gardens and rustic appeal carefully being restored to the splendour of better farming years (if open, currently under renovation till Dec 2012). Once in Jaipur, we visit a cotton trading/tailor shop where you can get clothing tailored for delivery to your hotel before we leave!

Day 6: Jaipur

Today, you can choose to bolt on an early morning hot air balloon flight over Jaipur.Look out for the snake charmers that dot our route, as we continue to the 16th century Amber Fort. An exotic elephant ride transports us to the lofty fort, where we’ll enjoy a tour of this Rajput extravaganza. Later in the afternoon we tour the City Palace, which boasts an interesting museum of regal attire and Jantar Mantar, an ancient astronomical observatory.

Day 7: Jaipur - Ranthambhore NP

After enjoying breakfast at the hotel, we depart Jaipur and make our way to the Ranthambhore National Park for lunch and an afternoon game drive. Ranthambhore National Park is one of India’s most scenic parks and offers a rich diversity of fauna and flora including the Bengal tiger, sambar, chital, nilgai, wild boar, leopard, sloth bear and myriad birdlife.

Day 8: Ranthambhore NP

Enjoy morning and afternoon game drives in the national park. Ranthambore National Park is one of the prime examples of Project Tiger’s conservation efforts in Rajasthan. The forests around the Ranthambore Fort were once the private hunting grounds of the Maharajas of Jaipur.

Day 9: Ranthambhore NP - Delhi

After an early breakfast we return to Delhi by train. We will transfer you to the ITC Maurya (hotel booked independently). The remainder of the day is free for you to relax or independently explore Delhi your own way.

Day 10: Delhi

We will transfer you to the airport in time for your departure flight (pick up from ITC Maurya (hotel booked independently).
