Today we explore both Old and New Delhi - the order of New Delhi is a huge contrast to the unorganised chaos of the Old City. But both are just as appealing. Taking in the impressive Red Fort, Jama Masjid - India’s oldest and largest mosque, Raj Ghat - the site of Gandhi’s cremation and more.
Departing Delhi, you journey to Agra, once India’s Mughal capital. We first visit Agra fort, which boasts some of India’s finest Mughal buildings behind it’s fortified walls. Then you can enjoy a rickshaw ride to the legendary Taj Mahal - India's famous monument of love. Built entirely of white marble, the Taj Mahal has no peers, and in the evening light it really is a sight to behold!
This morning we will take a drive out to the ghostly fortified city of Fatehpur Sikri, abandoned only 8 years after its construction due to droughts in the area. Continuing on we will arrive on to Jaipur; 'The Pink City' on arrival, the rest of the afternoon is free time to relax.
Look out for the snake charmers that dot our route, as we travel to the 16th century Amber Fort. An exotic elephant ride transports us to the lofty fort, where you will enjoy a tour of this Rajput extravaganza. Later in the afternoon you tour the City Palace, which boasts an interesting museum of regal attire and Jantar Mantar, an ancient astronomical observatory.
The lure of romantic palm fringed beaches calls today! We fly first to Mumbai where we transit for your flight to Kochi arriving around 15:25, we will transfer you to your hotel. After a rest in the afternoon we will take you to see a Kathakali dance performance the traditional dance that dates back 400 years.
This morning we visit to Dutch Palace built by the Portuguese for a local King in 1555 A.D. The famous Jew Street, a cul-de-sac leading to the beautiful Parsi Synagogue built in 1568. A walking tour of Fort Cochin will take you through the streets still graced with traces of Portuguese, Dutch & British colonial architecture. We journey by road to where you’ll board a traditional Keralan rice boat for a journey through the backwaters. The boat will cross shallow, palm-fringed lakes and cruise along peaceful canals where copra and cashews are loaded onto local boats. The on-board cook will prepare locally-inspired food.
Disembarking at Alleppey today we drive you to Mararikulam for your relaxing beach stay.
Now it's time to sit back and relax here in this laid back coastal area of India, walk along palm fringed beaches looking for shells and watching the fishermen at work, or simply kick back and enjoy some fresh fruit cocktails served on a silver platter.
Today relaxed and full of special memories from your time in India, we will transfer you to Kochi international airport in time for your flight home.
