Welcome to India and the start of your adventure with On the Go Tours. Upon your arrival at the international airport in Delhi our local representative will be waiting in the arrivals hall to greet you and transfer you to your hotel in Delhi.
Today we explore both Old and New Delhi. The order of New Delhi is a huge contrast to the disorganised chaos of the Old City but both are just as appealing. Taking in the impressive Red Fort, Jama Masjid - India’s oldest and largest mosque, Raj Ghat - the site of Gandhi’s cremation and more.
It's an early morning today as we transfer you to the railway station for your train journey to Amritsar (Swarn Shatabdi 0710/1310). Upon your arrival you will be met and transferred to your hotel for some leisure time. This afternoon we’ll drive to the final frontier, Wagah, to watch the sunset changing of the guards and ceremonial lowering of the flags.
Enjoy a half day sightseeing tour of the city and the famous Golden Temple and Jallianwala Bagh. The famous Golden Temple the seat of the Sikh religion, Amritsar is one of the Punjab’s principal cities. Built in 1803 and made of marble, copper and pure leaf gold, the temple is an amazing architectural feat. Later this afternoon we will transfer you to the railway station for your train back to Delhi (Swarn Shatabdi 1710/2250).
This morning we transfer you to the airport for your flight to Varanasi (SG 233 - 1055 / 1220) where upon your arrival you will be met and transferred to your hotel for check in. This afternoon enjoy a city tour of Varanasi, India's spiritual city abundant with temples and labyrinthine streets.
This morning enjoy a sunrise boat ride on the holy Ganges where we’ll view the ancient religious tradition of ritual cleansing that takes place on the many riverbank ghats (riverside steps). The rest of the day is at leisure. Later this evening take a rickshaw ride to the banks of the Ganges to witness an Aarti ceremony.
This morning we transfer you to the airport for your flight back to Delhi (SG 116 - 0855 / 1010) where on your arrival you will be met and transferred to Agra. Hotel check in and the remainder of the day at leisure.
Today we rise early to see the Taj Mahal in the ethereal morning light and pay a visit to Agra Fort. Later in the day we will take a drive out to the ghostly fortified city of Fatehpur Sikri, abandoned only 8 years after its construction due to droughts in the area. We continue on through the Rajasthan countryside to the capital of Rajasthan, the Pink City of Jaipur, so named beacuse of the terracotta pink colour of the buildings, painted to welcome the Prince of Wales in 1876.
This morning we visit the delicate pink, magnificent fort-palace of Amber - a wonderful example of Rajput architecture just north of Jaipur. Subject to Government regulations, we will arrive in style riding on an elephant! This afternoon enjoy a tour of the city which includes the City Palace, which boasts an interesting museum of regal attire and Jantar Mantar, an ancient astronomical observatory.
Departing Jaipur this morning we continue our journey through Rajasthan and make our way to Jodhpur.
A morning sightseeing tour of the city today, taking in the old city, which is surrounded by a 10km-long wall. In the old city are a tangle of streets and alleyways, bazaars and human traffic. Standing at the edge of the Thar Desert, the city is dominated by its massive fort, which sits atop a sheer rocky ridge right in the middle of the town. Meherangarh Fort, still run by the Maharaja of Jodhpur is an impressive sight. After sightseeing continue to Udaipur, en route stopping at Ranakpur for some free time to explore the Jain temples there.
An oasis of cool, with its massive lake and Venetian-like appearance, Udaipur is one of the most romantic towns in Rajasthan. A favourite amongst travellers, Udaipur is crammed full of palaces and temples. During your stay enjoy a cruise on Lake Pichola, plus touring of the imposing City Palace, not to mention free time to explore and perhaps shop for colourful Rajasthani souvenirs and Indian spices.
It's an early start today as you'll be transferred to the airport for your flight south to Goa via Mumbai (9W 2094 - 0715 / 0830 // 9W 475 - 1205 / 1305). Upon your arrival you will be transferred to your hotel.
Sit back and relax here in this laid back coastal area of India, walk along palm fringed beaches looking for shells and watching the fishermen at work, or simply kick back and enjoy some fresh fruit cocktails served on a silver platter.
After a leisurely morning in Goa we transfer you to the airport for your flight to Bangalore (SG 876 - 1340 / 1450) where upon your arrival you will be met and transferred to your hotel.
Today marks the end of your adventure with On the Go Tours. After breakfast and hotel check out we will transfer you to the airport for your onward departure flight.
