Welcome to India and the start of your holiday! Arrive at Delhi airport where we will meet you and transfer you to the hotel. Rest of the day is free to relax after your long flight.
Our full day guided sightseeing tour of Delhi today covers the colourful chaos of Old Delhi and the modern simplicity of New Delhi. This vibrant city is full of forts, monuments, temples, mosques and more. During the 16th and 17th centuries, Delhi was important centre of the Mughal dynasty and the British made it the capital city in 1911. We take in Red Fort, Jama Masjid and Chandni Chowk, the bustling bazaar, as well as the Raj Ghat and Shanti Vana – the cremation sites of Mahatama Gandhi and Jawahar Lal Nehru. In New Delhi we visit India Gate, Rasthrapati Bhawan, Parliament House and Humayun’s Tomb.
Departing Delhi at 6.00 am by train, we journey to Agra, arriving at 0812. Here we visit Agra Fort which boasts some of India’s finest Mughal buildings behind it’s fortified walls. We then enjoy a rickshaw ride to the legendary Taj Mahal. Built entirely of white marble, the Taj Mahal has no peers.
This morning you board the 0725 train to Jaipur. Arriving at 1250, this afternoon enjoy time to visit to local cotton traders with a local guide.
This morning, we travel beyond Jaipur to the 16th century Amber Fort. An exotic elephant ride transports us to the lofty fort, where we’ll enjoy a tour of this Rajput extravaganza. Why not bolt on an early morning amazing hot air balloon ride? Later in the afternoon we tour the City Palace, which boasts an interesting museum of regal attire and Jantar Mantar, an ancient astronomical observatory.
Today, we drive to the semi-desert Shekhawati region. The small towns in this region became important trading posts, a lasting legacy of which are the beautiful painted havelis constructed by wealthy merchants in the 18th and 19th centuries. Enjoy free time in the afternoon or head out for a walk through the village.
Travelling west, our next stop is the 14th century desert town of Bikaner. Once an important staging post on the great caravan routes, much of the atmospheric old town which we will explore is still encircled by massive fortified walls. We also visit the spectacular Junagarh Fort & museum, built between 1587 & 1593 during the rule of Rai Singh.
Today will be spent driving to Jaisalmer, a medieval caravan outpost in the Thar Desert. Exquisite wood and sandstone buildings dot the town and within Jaisalmer Fort are homes, hotels and shops hidden in ancient lane ways.
Today enjoy a half day guided sightseeing tour of the city including the sandstone fort which is an imposing sight, towering magnificently over the city. Later this afternoon we will take you on an exciting camel safari on the Sam sand dunes. The evening is free and at your leisure to enjoy the city on your own.
Free day at your leisure. In the afternoon we will transfer you to the station in Jaisalmer for the 1715 departure to Jodhpur. Arriving at 2225, our local rep will greet you offer the train and transfer you to your hotel.
Dominated by Meherangarh Fort which sits majestically on the hill, Jodhpur is known as the Blue City, due to houses in the old town being painted indigo. We’ll visit the mighty fort and bazaars of the old city which are gathered around the city’s tall clock tower.
Leaving Jodhpur, we drive to Ranakpur, a small town tucked away in a remote valley and famed for its beautiful 14th century Jain temples. We’ll enjoy some exploration here and time to relax at our hotel.
Continuing south, we arrive at Udaipur. An oasis of cool, with its massive lake and Venetian like appearance, Udaipur is one of the most romantic towns in Rajasthan. A favourite amongst travellers, Udaipur is crammed full of palaces and temples.
This morning enjoy touring the imposing City Palace, a vision in soft yellow stone on the northeast promontory with breathtaking views of the lake. The City Palace is the largest palace complex in Rajasthan. We then take you to visit Jagdish Temple and Sahelion ki bari. This afternoon enjoy a shared sunset cruise on Lake Pichola.
Today is free at your leisure before your transfer to the train station for the overnight service to Ahmedabad. Enjoy the experience of the sleeper train in a air-conditioned 2nd class shared carriage.
Arriving into Ahmedabad at 0425, we will transfer you to your hotel where you room will be available for immediate check in. Later today we head out for a guided tour of the Calico Museum of Textiles and further guided exploration of the textile industries.

This morning we transfer you to the station for the 0700 departure bound for Mumbai. Arriving at 1625, our local team will greet you and transfer you to your hotel. (alternatively upgrade to a flight from Ahmedabad to Mumbai). The evening is free at your leisure.
