This morning we transfer you to the airport for your flight to Madurai (9W 2341 0615/0740 am). Upon your arrival you will be met and driven to Rameshwaram to visit the temple and Adam's Bridge. Overnight at the Daiwik Hotel.
After a leisurely morning Today drive back to Madurai airport for your flight to Kochi via Chennai (SG 329 1650/1750 hrs - SG 3243 1940/2105). Upon your arrival into Kochi you will be met and transferred to your hotel.
This commercial city, also called “The Queen of the Arabian Sea” is famous for its exquisite designer Gold Jewellery. The touring today includes the visit to Dutch Palace built by the Portuguese for a local King in 1555 A.D. The famous Jew Street, a cul-de-sac leading to the beautiful Parsi Synagogue built in 1568. A walking tour of Fort Cochin will take you through the streets still graced with traces of Portuguese, Dutch & British colonial architecture, including a few old trading factories, the only ones still standing anywhere in the world. After a rest in the afternoon we will take you to see a Kathakali dance performance the traditional dance is dated back 400 Years.
This morning a short drive from Kochi to Allepey brings you to board your house boat. Sit back enjoy the cozy comfort of a moving boat watch the country side, ancient Champakulam church and taste local Kuttanadan dishes.
After breakfast, you'll disembark from the houseboat and be transferred to your hotel in Kochi where you will board your flight to Delhi (AI 478 1745/2055 hrs). Transfer to hotel for overnight.
Today we explore both Old and New Delhi. The order of New Delhi is a huge contrast to the disorganised chaos of the Old City but both are just as appealing. Your tour today takes in the impressive Red Fort, Jama Masjid - India’s oldest and largest mosque, Raj Ghat - the site of Gandhi’s cremation and more.
An early morning start today as we drive you to Agra - home of India's famous attraction - the Taj Mahal. Upon arrival we will have a sightseeing tour to the Agra Fort, before watching the sun set on the Taj Mahal itself.
This morning we will take a drive out to the ghostly fortified city of Fatehpur Sikri, abandoned only 8 years after its construction due to droughts in the area. We continue on through the Rajasthan countryside to the capital of Rajasthan, the Pink City of Jaipur, so named because of the terracotta pink colour of the buildings, painted to welcome the Prince of Wales in 1876.
This morning visit the delicate pink, magnificent fort-palace of Amber - a wonderful example of Rajput architecture just north of Jaipur. Subject to Government regulations, you will arrive in style riding on an elephant! Then enjoy a city tour including the City Palace, which boasts an interesting museum of regal attire, and Jantar Mantar, an ancient astronomical observatory.
Today drive to Delhi and transfer to airport for flight to Varanasi (6E 176 1645/1805 hrs). Arrive Varanasi and transfer to hotel.
Varanasi, a city abundant with temples and labyrinthine streets. In the early morning of we will enjoy a boat ride on the holy Ganges River. Later in the day embark on a tour of India’s spiritual city. This evening consider re-visiting the ghats for the evening pilgrimage, a little different from the dawn ritual.
After breakfast this morning we transfer you to the airport for your flight to Mumbai (AI 696 1130/1335 hrs) where upon your arrival you will be met and transferred to your hotel. Remainder of the day at leisure.
This morning after breakfast take the cruise to visit Elephanta caves - Mumbai's premier tourist attraction. The rock-cut temples on peaceful Elephanta Island are thought to have been carved between 450 and 750 AD. The main cave contains large sculpted panels, including an astonishing 18-foot depiction of Shiva. Enjoy an afternoon sightseeing tour one of the most highly populated cities in the world, accommodating approximately 18 million people! Highlights include the Prince of Wales Museum, Gateway of India and Marine drive.
