Day 1: Chennai

Welcome to Chennai, and the start of your exclusive South India journey! Arriving into Chennai airport, you will be met by our friendly local team and transferred to your hotel. An afternoon tour of the city includes a vist to St George Fort, built in 1653 and St Mary’s Church, the oldest British church in India. Overnight Pride Hotel

Day 2: Chennai - Pondicherry

En route on our scenic drive to Pondicherry we stop to visit Kanchipuram, one of sacred cities in India and the seaside town of Mahabalipuram, famous for its shore temple. The city is also famous for handwoven silk. In Mahabalipuram, the huge rock-cut sculptures and mandapams (pillared pavilions) date from the 5th to 8th centuries. Start the afternoon with a sightseeing tour of Pondicherry which includes the enormous Brihadishwara Temple and colonial streets. Overnight at Meison Perumal

Day 3: Pondicherry - Tanjore

This morning we continue south to Tanjore, also known as Thanjavur, Tanjore is an ancient fortified town, with a glorious history dating back more than 1500 years. Thanjavur was the ancient capital of the Chola kings whose origins date back to the beginning of Christianity. Our city tour this afternoon includes the enormous Brihadishwara Temple. Built by Raja Raja in 1010, the World Heritage protected temple has a dome weighing an estimated 80 tonnes. Overnight at Overnight at Tanjore Hi

Day 4: Tanjore - Trichy

This morning we drive to Trichy which has been ravaged by war through the centuries, a lasting legacy of this fact is the Rock Fort and its temples. We send the afternoon here exploring the Fort with it's fascinating nooks and crannies as well as some of the key historic temples. Overnight at Breeze Residency

Day 5: Trichy - Madurai

Today we make our way to Madurai. An important centre for worship and commerce, Madurai has been around since the dawn of civilization in southern India. This evening, you’ll witness a religious ceremony at a local temple. Overnight at Fortune Pandyan (Club room)

Day 6: Madurai

Highlights of our morning tour include the Sri Meenakshi Temple built in 1560 and the city’s busy bazaars. The afternoon is then free for you to further explore the city. Overnight at Fortune Pandyan (Club room)

Day 7: Madurai - Thekkady

Today the scenery becomes lovely as pass hill country to the town of Thekkady which is in the area of gorgeous Periyar National Park. This evening we visit a spice garden. Here we learn about some of India's famous spices, how they are grown and what they are used in. You’ll also have the opportunity to buy some. (OVERNIGHT PERIYAR MEADOWS HOTEL)

Day 8: Thekkady - Munnar

This morning with a naturalist guide we have a walking tour in the national park which is home to sambar wild boar, elephant, bison, antelope, langur and a small tiger population. This afternoon we head right into the heart of the Western Ghat mountains and the cool hill station of Munnar. Overnight at Tea County (deluxe)

Day 9: Munnar

Munnar is world renowned for it's Tea so it is to be expected this morning then head off to explore a working Tea Estate to learn all about our much loved Cuppa! The afternoon is at your leisure. Overnight at Tea County (deluxe)

Day 10: Munnar - Kochi

This morning we drive to the port city of Kochi. Here, enjoy a sightseeing tour of the town including the beautiful Parsi Synagogue built in 1568, the Dutch Palace built by the Portuguese in 1555 and St Francis’ Church. A walking tour of Fort Cochin takes you through streets still graced with traces of Portuguese, Dutch and British colonial architecture. This evening we will take you to watch the famous Keralan dancers perform. Arrive early so you don’t miss the artists applying their awesome make-up. Overnight at Old Harbour (Suite)

Day 11: Kochi - Alleppey

This morning, you’ll board a traditional Keralan rice boat for a journey through the backwaters in and around Allapuzha (Alleppey).

Day 12: Alleppey

Spend the day on the boat as you cross shallow, palm-fringed lakes and cruise along peaceful canals where copra and cashews are loaded onto local boats. The on-board cook will prepare locally-inspired food. Relax, read and catch some sun as the boat plies it’s route.

Day 13: Alleppey - Varkala

Disembarking at Allepey today we drive to Varkala for your relaxing beach stay. Overnight at Palm Tree Heritage (deluxe)

Days 14-16: Varkala

Enjoy the next days at leisure to relax, enjoy the beach and laid back atmosphere of Varkala.

Day 17: Varkala - Trivandrum

Today we leave the tranquility of the beach and head to the city of Trivandrum. Here, we enjoy an exploration of the historical sites of the city including the incredible Padmanabhaswamy temple (outside only) and the lovely Kanakakannu Palace. Time permitting we will conclude with a visit to CVN Kalari Sangham to learn about the dying art of Kalarippayattu, the traditional martial art of Kerala. Overnight at Fortune Hotel South Park

Day 18: Trivandrum

Sadly your journey has come to an end, we will transfer you to the airport in time for your flight home.
