We will collect you this morning from your hotel (The Green Park) and transfer you to the airport for your flight to Coimbatore (6E 285 1005 / 1110) Arriving here, meet with our local driver who will take you onto Mettupalayam.
We board the narrow guage Blue Mountain Railway toy train destined for Coonor. Operating since 1899, the Blue Mountain Railway with its blue and cream steam livery has chugged from Mettupalayam to Otty via Coonoor, negotiating 16 tunnels, 31 major bridges and climbing to 2193 meters. The charming 4 hour journey offers sweeping mountain views and breathtaking scenery. Upon arrival to Ooty, we transfer to the hotel and afternoon at leisure.
This morning enjoy a city tour of Ooty. Also known as Udhagamandalam, Ooty is the "Queen of hill stations" and the capital of Nilgiris district. One of today's highlights is sure to be a visit to a local Tea plantation - for which this region is well known.
Morning or afternoon we drive to Coimbatore. Here, you have the driver and car at your disposal if you want to head out and explore.
Enjoy a scenic drive to Munnar - a quaint hill station nestled on the verdant slopes of tea plantations, that exudes a rare old world charm and reminds one of the days of the Raj in its elegant splendor. At a height of 1525 meters, Munnar offers breathtaking views of the surrounding hills.

A short drive south to Periyar, South India’s most popular wildlife sanctuary and home to bison, antelopes, sambar, wild boar, birds and even the odd tiger! Kumli, close to the sanctuary and where you’ll stay, is a pretty little town dotted with small spice and handicraft shops. This afternoon/evening enjoy an included nature walk.
Enjoy an included boat ride on Lake Periyar this morning to see the herds of wild elephants. The remainder of today is at your leisure.
This morning board a simply furnished private rice-boat for a journey through the backwaters from Alleppey to KUmarakom. Crewed by a poler to push the rice boat through the water, a distance of some 20 km will be covered, during which time the boat will glide past colorful local villages. As for dining, the on-board cook will prepare meals using fresh local produce.
Arriving into Kumarakom, you will be driven to your hotel. Perched sleepily on the eastern banks of the mighty Lake Vembanad in the heartland of Kerala’s famed backwaters, Kumarakom has changed little since the Middle Ages but for it’s string of exotic resorts, making it the perfect point to explore the backwaters.
Today you you’ll be driven the short distance to Kochi. This afternoon, a walking tour of Fort Cochin takes you through streets still graced with traces of Portuguese, Dutch and British colonial architecture.
Sadly your journey has come to an end, we will transfer you to the airport in time for your flight home.
