Today you will be picked at the airport and transferred to Darjeeling. Sitting at a spectacular altitude of nearly 2200m with a backdrop consisting of mighty snow-clad Himalayan peaks and surrounded by verdant tea plantations, the scenic hill-station of Darjeeling in the state of West Bengal offers pleasant respite from India’s oppressive summer heat. Indeed, Darjeeling has been a popular hill station since the British established it as an R & R centre for their troops in the mid 19th century. Draw cards include a number of Buddhist monasteries including Ghoom, tea plantations, faded relics from the Raj, colourful markets and trekking possibilities in the surrounding area.
Today enjoy a visit to Tiger Hill and the Ghoom Gompa (monastery). After breakfast you have the opportunity of taking the toy train ride up to Ghoom and back (Subject to operation of this train and availability of seats). IN the afternoon you shall visit the Tibetan Refugee Centre, HMI/ Zoo. Later this evening you can enjoy a walk to Observatory Hill/Chowrasta & back.
Today you shall be transferred from Darjeeling to Gangtok (98 Kms/4.5 Hrs drive). Owing to its proximity to the Tibetan border, Gangtok in the state of Sikkim is located in one of the most enthralling regions of the Himalayas and steeped in Tibetan culture. Surrounded by the Tibetan Plateau in the north, Nepal to the west, Bhutan in the east and West Bengal along its southern border, the awe-inspiring Kanchanjunga peaks (the third highest in the world) guard its green valleys, turquoise lakes, crystal-clear streams and gorges. Later this afternoon you shall visit Tashiview Point & back. Overnight: Mayfair Gangtok
Today you shall visit the Tibetology Institute, Do Drul Chorten & Rumtek Monastery. Later you shall visit Enchey Monastery & Cottage Industry. Overnight - Mayfair Gangtok
