Today, we drive to the semi-desert Shekhawati region. The small towns in this region became important trading posts, a lasting legacy of which are the beautiful painted havelis (mansions) constructed by wealthy merchants in the 18th and 19th centuries. Enjoy free time in the afternoon to explore the village and its lovely old buildings.
Driving further into the Thar Desert we arrive at the small town of Gajner (Bikaner District) Enjoy time to explore the palatial buildings and gardens of your hotel.
Driving through the Rajasthani Thar desert we arrive at the medieval caravan outpost of Jaisalmer, one of the jewels in India’s crown. Exquisite wood and sandstone buildings dot the town and within Jaisalmer Fort are homes, hotels and shops hidden in ancient laneways. Happy New Year, Welcome 2014! Leaving Jaisalmer we continue our journey through the Thar Desert to the small town of Manvar. After check into your hotel, you will head out for a jeep safari and camel ride in the desert unique to the area. You will also pay a visit to the Bishnoi village and meet the locals whom have a very unique cultural ethos to all other ethnic groups of India.
An interesting drive through increasingly varied scenery takes us to Jodhpur, a town at the edge of the mighty Thar Desert. Dominated by Meherangarh Fort which sits majestically atop a hill, Jodhpur is known as the Blue City. This is because of the coloured houses in the old town, painted indigo.
This morning we'll enjoy some touring in this colourful Rajasthani city, taking in the mighty fort, Umaid Bhawan Museum, the city’s tall clock tower. The afternoon is at your leisure to explore the markets.
Leaving Jodhpur, we drive to Ranakpur, a small town tucked away in a remote valley and famed for its beautiful 14th century Jain temples. After plenty of time to explore, we continue to your hotel in Udaipur and in the evening you will be taken for a romantic boat ride to see the sunset on the lake.
This morning enjoy touring the imposing City Palace, a vision in soft yellow stone on the northeast promontory with breathtaking views of the lake and is the largest palace complex in Rajasthan. We then take you to visit Jagdish Temple and Sahelion ki bari gardens the afternoon is then at your leisure, or perhaps you would like a pre booked visit to the Monsoon Palace? Making our way back into rural Rajasthan today we drive to Deogarh. In the cooler evening air, you will be escorted out on a walking visit to some of the surrounding villages.
Today we journey to the lovely lakeside town of Pushkar. Enjoy the afternoon to explore the ancient temples and buildings all built around what is considered one of india's most sacred ponds.

Today we travel by rickshaw and enjoy some bird watching at Keoladeo National Park. After, we drive to Agra making one stop along the way to visit the ghostly former Mughal city of Fatehpur Sikri, abandoned due to lack of water.
