Namaste! Welcome to India and New Delhi the capital city of India. We will meet you at the airport and transfer you to your hotel with the rest of the day yours to relax after your long flight.
Today we explore both Old and New Delhi - the order of New Delhi is a huge contrast to the unorganised chaos of the Old City. But both are just as appealing. Highlights we be the impressive Red Fort, Jama Masjid - India’s oldest and largest mosque, Raj Ghat - the site of Gandhi’s cremation and more.
Today, we drive to the semi-desert Shekhawati region. The small towns in this region became important trading posts, a lasting legacy of which are the beautiful painted havelis (mansions) constructed by wealthy merchants in the 18th and 19th centuries. Enjoy an afternoon village walk.
Travelling west, our next stop is the 14th century desert town of Bikaner. Once an important staging post on the great caravan routes, much of the atmospheric old town which we will explore today is still encircled by massive fortified walls. Within these walls are havelis, artisan shops and more. We also visit the spectacular Junagarh Fort & museum, built between 1587 & 1593 during the rule of Rai Singh.
Today will be spent driving to Jaisalmer, a medieval caravan outpost in the Thar Desert. Exquisite wood and sandstone buildings dot the town and within Jaisalmer Fort are homes, hotels and shops hidden in ancient lane ways.
Today enjoy a guided sightseeing tour of the city including the sandstone fort which is an imposing sight, towering magnificently over the city. Later this afternoon we will take you on an exciting camel safari on the Sam sand dunes. The evening is free and at your leisure to enjoy the city on your own.
Today we drive to Osian making a stop en route to visit Pokhran Fort. Arriving here check and if time permits enjoy a Camel ride in surounding desert.
Leaving Osian we travel to Jodhpur, the largest city in Rajasthan after Jaipur. It is named the Blue City, in reference to the indigo coloured buildings that dot the old city, and the locals belief that blue acts as effective defence against mosquitoes! Afternoon enjoy time to play Holi with the royal family at the hotel/palace.
Today you will enjoy some touring in this colourful Rajasthani city, taking in the mighty fort and bazaars of the old city which are gathered around the city’s tall clock tower. This afternoon we drive to Deogarh. Remainder of the day at leisure in Deogarh.
Today we drive to the romantic city of Udaipur. En route you will stop to visit the Jain temples at Ranakpur at your leisure. Continuing we Arrive into Udaipur reminder of the day at your leisure.
This morning will consist of an orientation and sightseeing tour of Udaipur - including the City Palace and museum - before having a few hours in the afternoon to explore for yourselves. This evening you will take ride in an shared boat on Lake Pichola.
Carrying on our in depth tour of Rajastan we journey to Pushkar. Enjoy a half day tour of the temples, bathing ghats, onion shaped domes and chalk coloured buildings of Pushkar with your guide. Afternoon at leisure on your exploration you are sure to see plenty of Sadhus (spiritual men) and chilled out travellers as this is an important pilgrimage centre.
Departing Pushkar we journey to Jaipur also known as the Pink city! Arrival here free time at your leisure. Evening guided visit to Nahargarh Fort to witness the sunset.
This morning we visit the delicate pink, magnificent fort-palace of Amber - a wonderful example of Rajput architecture just north of Jaipur. Subject to Government regulations, we will arrive in style atop an elephant! Enjoy an afternoon sightseeing tour of the city. Rest of the evening is free and at your leisure.
After breakfast we drive to Ranthambore National Park. After check in we enjoy your first of 3 game drives to try and spot India's illusive tiger and much more.
Enjoy morning and afternoon game drives in the national park. Ranthambore National Park is one of the prime examples of Project Tiger’s conservation efforts in Rajasthan. The forests around the Ranthambore Fort were once the private hunting grounds of the Maharajas of Jaipur.
After a relaxing breakfast we will drive to Agra home to of India's most famous monuments - the Taj Mahal. En route we will also pay a visit to the ghostly former Moghul city of Fatehpur Sikri - the fortified ghost city abandoned soon after its construction because of water shortages in the area. Arriving in Agra you will check into your hotel and a Sunset visit to Mehtab Bagh to witness the rear view of Taj Mahal.
After breakfast we head out to view the magnificent Taj Mahal. Enjoy your own time to explore and a guided tour of this once powerful Moghul emperor’s monument to love. Later we visit Agra fort built under the Mughal Emperor Akbar in 1565 that contains numerous palaces and a white marble mosque and the Baby Taj. Remainder of the day is at your leisure.
Today, we travel by express train to Jhansi and drive onward to Orchha. Situated on the banks of the River Betwa, Orchha is set amongst a wonderful complex of well-preserved 16th century temples and palaces which you see first hand on your afternoon guided tour. From here we continue straight to Khajuraho.
Full day to visit the resplendent Hindu temples which were built during the Chandela dynasty and famous for there delicate sensuality and forthright eroticism, how and why they were built still remains a mystery. Evening transfers included for sound and light show (English version around 1830hrs).
Free morning. This afternoon we fly east to Varanasi. Perhaps the holiest city in India; Varanasi, also known as Benares or the city of Shiva, is also one of the oldest cities on earth. Sitting on the banks of the holy River Ganges, it has been a centre of learning and civilisation for more than 2000 years and is a place of Hindu pilgrimage. This evening you will attend with your guide a sacred ceremony on the river banks.
This morning, we enjoy a sunrise boat ride on the holy Ganges where we’ll view the ancient religious tradition of ritual cleansing that takes place on the many riverbank ghats. Later, we embark on a tour of the city and a tour of where it is said Buddha made his first sermon at Sarnath. Evening at leisure.
Morning at your leisure. Afternoon departure transfer to Varanasi Airport for your flight to Delhi. Arrive Delhi and transfer to hotel flight details as follows Delhi 9W 724 - 1445 / 1600. Evening at leisure perhaps to go out shopping.
