Returning to Mumbai airport this morning you catch the 11:20 AM flight to the pink city of Jaipur. Here, meeting with our local team you will enjoy an eye opening transfer to your hotel. This morning an exotic elephant ride transports us to the lofty Amber Fort of Jaipur, where we’ll enjoy a tour of this Rajput extravaganza. Decorate yourself in colourful flowers if you fancy as a stop to visit a local flower market can be arranged. Later in the afternoon we tour the City Palace, which boasts an interesting museum of regal attire and Jantar Mantar, an ancient astronomical observatory. Later in the day enjoy a walking tour of the bustling Bazaar. For the foodie in you why not consider learning how to cook world famous Rajasthani cooking this evening?
Today we drive to our next destination, Jaipur. Travelling through the semi arid region offers a fascinating window onto another world so sit back, relax and enjoy the journey, soaking in the amazing sights and sounds as you make your way. One stop will be made on this journey that is to visit the ghostly former Mughal city of Fatehpur Sikri, abandoned due to lack of water shortly after completion.
This morning enjoy a guided tour of the legendary Taj Mahal, watching a picturesque sunrise over India's most iconic monument. After breakfast, head out to visit the Agra Fort, which boasts some of India’s finest Mughal buildings behind its fortified walls, before we make our way by car to the intriguingly chaotic capital city of Delhi.
Bright and early this morning we board the Shatabdi Express bound for Kalka. Here, you will take a short walk across platforms to catch the narrow gauge Himalayan Queen Toy Train travelling to Shimla. To the commotion of the steam train's arrival to Shimla, we meet our representative on the station platform and transfer to our hotel for an evening at leisure.
In the morning enjoy a guided sightseeing tour of the lofty settlement, venturing into the narrow streets, which fall steeply away from the ridge giving way to colourful bazaars and fine views of the surrounding valley and snow-capped peaks. This afternoon enjoy some free time to explore at your leisure there are some lovely short walking trails nearby if you fancied an afternoon stroll? Ask your guide in the morning for more info on this.
Today we take a flight from Chandigarh to Srinagar, the capital of Jammu and Kashmir, situated in the northwestern region of India. Jammu and Kashmir is bordered in the north by China, to the east by the autonomous region of Tibet, to the south by the Indian states of Himachal Pradesh and Punjab, and to the west by the Pakistani city of Rawalpindi and on North Western side by Afghanistan. Upon arrival you'll be met and transferred to your houseboat on Nageen Lake, part of Dal Lake, which will be your home for the night. This evening we will take a ride in a shikara to witness the sunset.
This morning we visit some of the stunning Mughal Gardens that Srinagar is famous for. We visit the terraced Nishat Bagh or Nishat Garden on the eastern side of the lake, Nishat Bagh translates in Hindustani as "Garden of Joy" which is entirely fitting. Later we visit Shalimar Garden, equally as stunning and located on the northeast side of the lake. When ready, we enjoy a scenic drive to Gulmarg.
The large and beautiful meadow of Gulmarg lies at a stunning altitude of 2730m and is around 50km southwest of Srinagar in the Jammu and Kashmir region of far northern India. Gulmarg means ‘meadow of flowers’ and it lives up to this description in spring, when there are flowers everywhere at this hill station. Enjoy the morning to explore and take in this stunning hill station before later being driven back to Srinagar.
Making our way back to Srinagar Airport this morning you catch the flight back to Delhi. Arriving here, the team await to take you to your hotel, the remainder of today is at your leisure. Today, you'll explore Delhi - both Old and New with a private guide. Highlights of the tour will be the impressive Red Fort, Jama Masjid - India’s oldest and largest mosque, Raj Ghat - the site of Gandhi’s cremation and much more.
The last of your domestic flights this afternoon as you fly back to Mumbai. No tours or the like are arranged for the day but our friendly staff on hand both ends to assist you in anyway.
Today we embark on a glittering city tour, with a morning visit to the cave temples of Elephanta Island sculpted during the 5th to the 8th centuries. In the afternoon visit the Prince of Wales museum, Marine Drive and the Mani Bhawan Jain temple.
Sadly your epic adventure has come to an end, we bid you a fond farewell with a transfer to Mumbai airport in time for your flight home.
