Today we explore both Old and New Delhi - the order of New Delhi is a huge contrast to the unorganised chaos of the Old City. But both are just as appealing. Highlights we be the impressive Red Fort, Jama Masjid - India’s oldest and largest mosque, Raj Ghat - the site of Gandhi’s cremation and more.
Today, we will transfer you to the airport for the flight to Varanasi. On arrival we will transfer you to the hotel and get you checked in. Free time until this evening when we take you on an evening rickshaw ride for the Ganges for the Aarti ceremony.
This morning, we enjoy a sunrise boat ride on the holy Ganges where we’ll view the ancient religious tradition of ritual cleansing that takes place on the many riverbank ghats (riverside steps). Later, we embark on a tour of the city. Tonight you will board the over night train to Tundla, for Agra, departing at 22:40. Magadh Express train.
We will pick you up from the train station and check you into the hotel, where you will have breakfast. This afternoon we head out to view the magnificent Taj Mahal. Enjoy your own time to explore and a guided tour of this once powerful Moghul emperor’s monument to love. Later we visit Agra fort built under the Mughal Emperor Akbar in 1565 that contains numerous palaces and a white marble mosque and the Baby Taj.
En route to Jaipur, we visit Fatehpur Sikri, former imperial capital of the great Mughal emperor Akbar. Built between 1569 and 1585, it has been deserted for more than four centuries, by all accounts abandoned in 1600 due to a meagre supply of water. On arrival in Jaipur we will check you into the hotel.
Early today, we travel beyond Jaipur to the stunning 16th century Amber Fort - a sprawling Rajput concoction which hugs the hill on which it was built and overlooks the hot plains below. We enjoy a stately elephant ride (Subject to Government regulations & availability) to the fort proper and tour the fort’s well-preserved interior and grounds. Back in Jaipur, we will take you on a city tour.
We will transfer you to the airport for the flight to Kochi, via Mumbai. 9W 2374 - 08:00/09:35, 6E 224 - 11:40/13:25. On arrival in Kochi we will transfer you to the hotel and get you checked in.
This morning we enjoy a tour of the Dutch Palace built by the Portuguese for a local King in 1555 A.D. The famous Jew Street, a cul-de-sac leading to the beautiful Parsi Synagogue built in 1568 ending with a walking tour of Fort Cochin. This evening we will take you to a Kathkali dance.
This morning after an early breakfast we journey by road where you’ll board a traditional Keralan rice boat for a journey through the backwaters in and around Allapuzha (Alleppey). The boat will cross shallow, palm-fringed lakes and cruise along peaceful canals where cashews are loaded onto local boats. The on-board cook will prepare locally-inspired food. Relax, read and catch some sun as the boat plies it’s route.
Disembark today and we transfer you to the airport for the flight to Bangalore, train to Hospet. Flight 6E 343 - 16:10/17:45, waitlist for 1st class sleeper on Hampi Express - 22:00/06:30.
We will pick you up from the train station and drive you to Hampi. We will check you into the hotel and the rest of the day is free.
