Later our driver will collect you and take you to the airport for the flight to Bagdogra and then we will drive you on to Siliguri and you will be taken to your hotel. Early this morning, you’ll continue the journey to Darjeeling by car. This popular hill station sits at a spectacular altitude with a panoramic backdrop of the mighty snow-clad Himalayan peaks and surrounded by verdant tea plantations.
Enjoy a drive to Tiger Hill to catch sunrise over the snowy peaks of Kanchenjunga - the world’s third highest mountain. Continuing, enjoy a visit to the Ghoom Gompa (monastery) followed by city sightseeing and a visit to a tea estate.
Transferring to Bagdogra airport, you will fly to Kolkata. Here, you will be met by our local guide who will take you out to explore the city. Highlights include, the imposing Victoria Memorial, opened by the Prince of Wales in 1921. Then New Market a bazaar on Chowringhee Road, the stately Indian Museum founded in 1814 and the oldest and largest in India, St Paul’s Cathedral and the extraordinary Marble Palace. We conclude with exploring the famous flower market near Howrah Bridge.
Enjoy the day at your leisure to explore this incredible city. Later, we set off to the airport to fly to Varanasi (9W 2893 - 1210 / 1315) Arriving here, a local driver awaits to take you to your hotel. This evening our local guide will take you down to the riverside steps to see the ritual worship that takes place.
We enjoy a sunrise boat ride on the holy Ganges where we’ll view the ancient religious tradition of ritual cleansing that takes place on the many riverbank ghats (riverside steps). Later, we embark on a tour of the city. We will then transfer you to the airport for the flight to Amritsar, with a change of planes in Delhi (AI 406 - 1530 / 1720, then AI 16- 2215 / 2320). On arrival we will check you into the hotel.
Today a visit to the Famous Golden Temple the seat of the Sikh religion, Amritsar is one of the Punjab’s principal cities. Built in 1803 and made of marble, copper and pure leaf gold, the temple is an amazing architectural feat. Also you will enjoy a visit to Wagah - the only border crossing between India and Pakistan for the sunset ‘Retreat’ ceremony, where the changing of the guards & ceremonial lowering of the flags is performed with great pomp.
It's an early start today as we transfer you to the train station for the train leaving at 06:55 for Haridwar. On arrival at 13:55, we will transfer you to the hotel and then take you on a sightseeing tour of the city, This evening we will take you to see the Aarti ceremony at the Ganges.
Today you will have short drive to Rishikesh. Known as the Yoga Capital of the World, Rishikesh is set on the banks of the Ganges and surrounded by hills. We will take you on a guided tour and then head back to Haridwar.
Today we will drive you through to Shimla (around 8 hour drive) and on arrival we will check you into the hotel.
The next three days we will leave you to your own devices to explore and venture into the narrow streets, which fall steeply away from the ridge giving way to colourful bazaars and fine views of the surrounding valley and snow-capped peaks.
We will drive you to Kalka to the train station for the train to Delhi (departing at 17:35 and arriving at 22:35). On arrival in Delhi we will check you into the hotel.
We will transfer you to the airport in time for your departure flight.
