Welcome to India and the start of your holiday! Arrive Mumbai, included transfer to hotel.
Today your guide will meet you for a briefing and then embark on a glittering city tour, with a morning visit to the cave temples of Elephanta Island sculpted during the 5th to the 8th centuries. In the afternoon visit the Prince of Wales museum, Marine Drive and the Mani Bhawan Jain temple.
We will transfer you to the train station for the train to Shirdi. On arrival we will check you into the hotel. This afternoon we will take you on a sightseeing trip to Sakori, to Shri Upasani Kanyakumari Sthan. We will check you in to the Shraddha Inn, superior class hotel.
Today the sightseeing includes Shanisinghnapur, a village that is the holy seat Lord Shani and Nashik, seeing the temples at this holy site. We will take you to the airport in Mumbai for the flight to Jaipur (9W 20563, departing at 18:35 and arriving at 20:10). On arrival in Jaipur we will transfer you to the hotel.
Look out for the snake charmers that dot our route, as we travel to the 16th century Amber Fort. An exotic elephant ride transports us to the lofty fort, where we’ll enjoy a tour of this Rajput extravaganza. Later in the afternoon we tour the City Palace, which boasts an interesting museum of regal attire and Jantar Mantar, an ancient astronomical observatory.
After a relaxing breakfast we will head off to Agra home to of India's most famous monuments - the Taj Mahal. En route we will also pay a visit to the ghostly former Moghul city of Fatehpur Sikri - the fortified ghost city abandoned soon after its construction because of water shortages in the area. Arriving in Agra you will check into your hotel, and this evneing we take our first visit to India's most iconic monument.
Today we visit Agra fort, which boasts some of India’s finest Mughal buildings behind it’s fortified walls. During its history it has been a palace, a fort and a prison!
Today we explore both Old and New Delhi - the order of New Delhi is a huge contrast to the unorganised chaos of the Old City. But both are just as appealing. Highlights we be the impressive Red Fort, Jama Masjid - India’s oldest and largest mosque, Raj Ghat - the site of Gandhi’s cremation and more.
Today we travel by train to Haridwar, departing at 06:50 and arriving at 11:25. Located at the point where the Ganges emerges from the Himalayas Haridwar is considered one of India's most scared cities. Enjoy free time for the remainder of the evening.
Enjoy a day with our guide for an in-depth tour of this sacred city. Highlights will include visiting Ganges to see devotees taking bath, visiting some of the famous temples like Mansa Devi, chandi temple, local markets and the evening aarti ceremony at Har-Ki-Pairi. we then transfer up to Rishikesh.
Known as the Yoga Capial of the World, Rishikesh is set on the banks of the Ganges and surrounded by hills, as such by its nature it is a perfect place to relax. Set amongst the banks of the Ganges, we will visit several of its Temples.
Free day to explore perhaps go for a walk toward the higher mountains from Laxman Jula onward you will see lots of wild monkeys sometimes even the odd wild elephant has been spotted. Tonight we transfer you to Haridwar station for the sleeper train to Varanasi Hw Hwh S F Exp departs at 23:55.
Arriving into Varanasi at 13:25 we transfer you to your hotel. Day to relax after your train journey.
Today enjoy a half day guided city tour taking in some of the key historic highlights. This evening we will take you to the Aarti ceremony.
This morning, we enjoy a sunrise boat ride on the holy Ganges where we’ll view the ancient religious tradition of ritual cleansing that takes place. After we tour the famous Buddhist holy sight of Sarnath which is where Lord Buddha gave his first sermon to the five holy men; preaching the middleway to final 'NIRVANA’.
We will transfer you to the airport for the flight to Mumbai, AI 696 departing at 11:00 and arriving in Mumbai at 13:05. Our services will end on your arrival to Mumbai airport.
