Welcome to India and the start of your holiday! Arrive Delhi, included transfer to hotel.
We will enjoy a full day sightseeing tour of Delhi, taking in the impressive Red Fort, Jama Masjid - India’s oldest and largest mosque, Raj Ghat - the site of Gandhi’s cremation and more.
Transfer to Delhi station for train to Amritsar, 2029 - Swaran Shatabdi - 0720 / 1315 - Air conditioned chair car. Arrive and transfer to hotel. You will the have a visit to Wagah - the only border crossing between India and Pakistan for the sunset ‘Retreat’ ceremony, where the changing of the guards & ceremonial lowering of the flags is performed with great pomp. Afterwards we head to the Golden Temple for the Diwali celebrations.
Home to the world famous Golden Temple and the seat of the Sikh religion, Amritsar is one of the Punjab’s principal cities. Built in 1803 and made of marble, copper and pure leaf gold, the temple is an amazing architectural feat. Morning visit to Golden temple and followed by a sightseeing tour of the city. We will then transfer you to the train station for the train to Delhi - Swarna Shayabdi departing at 16:55 and arriving at 23:05. We will transfer you to the hotel.
We will drive you to Jaipur today and check you into the hotel. In the afternoon we take you on a guided sightseeing tour of the Pink City.
After enjoying breakfast at the hotel, we depart Jaipur and make our way to the Ranthambhore National Park for lunch and an afternoon game drive. Ranthambhore National Park is one of India’s most scenic parks and offers a rich diversity of fauna and flora including the Bengal tiger, sambar, chital, nilgai, wild boar, leopard, sloth bear and myriad birdlife.
Enjoy morning and afternoon game drives in shared jeeps or canters in the national park. The forests around the Ranthambhore Fort were once the private hunting grounds of the Maharajas of Jaipur. This wildlife sanctuary is considered to be the country's best for observing and photographing the activities of the tiger.
Today we will set off for Agra, with a stop en route at Fatehpur Sikri. The ghostly fortifed city of Fatehpur Sikri, abandonded only 8 years after its construction due to droughts in the area. On arrival in Agra we will check you into the hotel.
Today we rise early to see the Taj Mahal in its ethereal morning light - quite a contrast to sunset on our previous visit. Later we visit Agra Fort,built under the Mughal Emperor Akbar in 1565 that contains numerous palaces and a white marble mosque and the Baby Taj. This evening we will transefr you to the train station for the overnight train to Varanasi (Poorva Express, departing at 20:40 and arriving in the morning at 06:15).
Upon arrival, we will then drive to Varanasi and transfer you to the hotel. Rest of the day is free, until the evening rickshaw ride to see the Arti ceremony on the Ganges.
This morning, we enjoy a sunrise boat ride on the holy Ganges where we’ll view the ancient religious tradition of ritual cleansing that takes place on the many riverbank ghats (riverside steps). Later, we embark on a tour of the city and Sarnath. Sarnath is located at 10 Kms from Varanasi where Lord Buddha gave his first sermon to the five holy men; preaching the middleway to final 'NIRVANA’.
We will transfer you to the airport in time for the flight to Kathmandu, AI 251 departing at 12:30 and arriving at 13:40. (this flight only operates on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays). On arrival in Kathmandu we will transfer you to the hotel.
This morning you take to skies for a scenic flight to see Mt Everest. Flying over the Himalayan peaks is a truly breathtaking sight! Resembling a medieval city of temples, shrines and living gods, Kathmandu is Nepal’s biggest and most cosmopolitan city. You will see this first hand with a guided tour of the city including Swayambhunath, Kastha Mandap and Kumari Devi.
We will take you on more sightseeing in Kathmandu before transferring you to the airport in time for your departure flight.
