The grand entrance into Delhi's famous Red Fort

Day 1: Delhi

Welcome to India and the start of your adventure with On the Go Tours. Upon your arrival at Delhi's international airport we will be there to greet you and transfer you to your hotel where the remainder of the day can be spent at leisure.

Day 2: Delhi

Today we explore both Old and New Delhi The order of New Delhi is a huge contrast to the disorganised chaos of the Old City but both are just as appealing. Today's tour takes in the impressive Red Fort, Jama Masjid - India’s oldest and largest mosque, Raj Ghat - the site of Gandhi’s cremation and more.

Day 3: Delhi - Varanasi

This morning we transfer you to the airport for your flight to Varanasi (SG-2394 1145 / 1320). Upon arrival you will then be transferred to your hotel for check in. Later this afternoon enjoy a city tour exploring the myriad of temples and labyrinthine streets.

Day 4: Varanasi

This morning, we enjoy a sunrise boat ride on the holy Ganges where we’ll view the ancient religious tradition of ritual cleansing that takes place on the many riverbank ghats (riverside steps). Later, we embark on a tour of Sarnath. This evening enjoy a visit to the Ganges on a rickshaw to see an Aarti ceremony.

Day 5: Varanasi - Agra

Early this morning we will transfer you to the airport for your flight back to Delhi (SG 128 - 0815 / 0945). Upon arrival you will be transferred by road to Agra. Remainder of the day at leisure.

Day 6: Agra

Today we visit the magnificent Taj Mahal at sunrise. Enjoy your own time to explore and a guided tour of this once powerful Moghul emperor’s monument to love. Later we visit Agra fort, built under the Mughal Emperor Akbar in 1565, which contains numerous palaces and a white marble mosque and the Baby Taj. Remainder of the day is free and at your leisure.

Day 7: Agra - Jaipur

This morning we take a drive out to the ghostly fortified city of Fatehpur Sikri, abandoned only 8 years after its construction due to droughts in the area. We continue on through the Rajasthan countryside to the capital of Rajasthan, the Pink City of Jaipur, so named because of the terracotta pink colour of the buildings, painted to welcome the Prince of Wales in 1876.

Day 8: Jaipur

This morning we visit the delicate pink, magnificent fort-palace of Amber - a wonderful example of Rajput architecture just north of Jaipur. Subject to Government regulations, we will arrive in style riding on an elephant! This afternoon enjoy a tour of the city which includes the City Palace, which boasts an interesting museum of regal attire and Jantar Mantar, an ancient astronomical observatory.

Day 9: Jaipur - Bikaner

This morning we drive to Bikaner. After hotel check in enjoy a half day city tour. Much of the atmospheric old town which we will explore is still encircled by massive fortified walls. Within these walls are havelis, artisan shops and people going about their daily lives.

Day 10: Bikaner - Jaisalmer

Today we continue on and start driving through the Rajasthani Thar desert where we arrive at the medieval caravan outpost of Jaisalmer, one of the jewels in India’s crown. Exquisite wood and sandstone buildings dot the town and within Jaisalmer Fort are homes, hotels and shops hidden in ancient lane ways.

Day 11: Jaisalmer

Today enjoy a guided sightseeing tour of the city including the sandstone fort which is an imposing sight, towering magnificently over the city. Later this afternoon we will take you on an exciting camel safari on the Sam sand dunes.

Day 12: Jaisalmer - Jodhpur

Today, we travel to Jodhpur, the largest city in Rajasthan after Jaipur, the Blue City, in reference to the indigo coloured buildings that dot the old city and the locals belief that blue acts as effective defence against mosquitoes! Enjoy a city tour this afternoon taking in the old city, which is surrounded by a 10km-long wall. In the old city are a tangle of streets and alleyways, bazaars and human traffic.

Day 13: Jodhpur - Udaipur

Departing Jaisalmer this morning we head to the romantic city of Udaipur. En route we stop at Chittaurgarh, the largest fort in India. Upon arrival in Udaipur, hotel check in and the remainder of the day at leisure.

Day 14: Udaipur

This morning will consist of an orientation and sightseeing tour of Udaipur - including the City Palace and museum - before having a few hours in the afternoon to explore for yourselves. This evening you will take ride in a boat on Lake Pichola itself.

Day 15: Udaipur - Mumbai

Early this morning we will transfer you to the airport for your flight south to Mumbai (S2 3095 - 0655 / 0810). Upon arrival you will be collected and transferred to your hotel for check in. This afternoon enjoy a city tour of Mumbai

Day 16: Mumbai

Today marks the end of your incredible journey with On the Go Tours. After breakfast and hotel check out we will transfer you to the airport for your onward departure flight. End of services.
