Jhansi Holidays

Jhansi Travel

Jhansi is best known for its fort and the involvement in the 1857 Mutiny of its Queen - Rani Lakshmi Bai - and heroine of the Indian Independence movement. It is a useful stopping point enroute from Delhi to Khajuraho. Situated at the neck of a ‘peninsula’ of Uttar Pradesh, Jhansi is also a major transport hub for the north of that state.

Jhansi Fort is its main attraction. The nucleus of the Fort was built by Bir Singh Deo in 1613 with concentric walls and 10 gates and the views from the ramparts are excellent. Rani Mahal, the former palace of Lakshmi Bai’s is now a museum with a collection of hundreds of sculptures.
